F7F Tigercat SOH Project

Hey Milton, i have a question, it was possible to convert it to nose steering right?

Yes, just open the aircraft.cfg, go to the Contact points, on contact point.0, find the 180 and change it to 45.

Like this:

point.0 = 1.000, 14.27, 0.000, -8.90, 1950.000, 0.000, 1.050, 180.0, 0.306, 3.000, 1.000, 3.000, 3.000, 0.000, 170.000, 225.000

Change the 180 to 45

How about the early versions, dash -1 and -2? And the borate tanker? Are they anything near ready?... snipped[/COLOR][/B]

Mick,

The -1 is up to speed with all the other versions, as is the tanker. I have not uploaded the -1 as there are plenty now to fly.

We will have the -1, -3 fighter, -3 two seater and -3N.
I have no plans to do a -2 as there are so many similarities with others available.

Thank you, Milton.

Prop textures in FS9 disappear. May be better in the 'Gold' version?

For these "interim" products, this is the "Gold" version. Must be a difference in your envmap and mine as I see the blurred prop textures, albeit faintly, as it is in the real world. I like them barely visible.

If you have an 3-bladed prop aircraft with textures you like, just drop them in the texture folder and rename to "spinprop". That should fix you up. :)

everything works great now! the sound is also amazing!!! but i have my volume turned allllllllllllllll the way up and its not loud enough for me! sounds more like an your listening far away not close up! Dont get me wrong it sounds awesome but id like it to be a little louder like im right by the aircraft.

You must be referring to FSX here? The gauge will not work in FSX.
Its function is to turn the engine slowly to cross 11 blades before allowing the magneto switch to flip. This works only using the ctrl+e start procedure. Looks very cool in spot view. :)
Milton, I'm running FS2004. I get the error prompt (see attached) when I select the plane to fly, when I click Fly Now, and when I shift to 2D cockpit view. When I comment out the gauge in the panel.cfg, no more error but of course no engine crank animation either. Just to troubleshoot I downloaded the A-26 (beautiful plane BTW) and I get the same error. I have FSUIPC v3.80 installed on the sim. Is there something else I need to tweak?

In FS, go to Options/Settings/Sounds and move the slider to the right for Engines. I have mine at 50% and that's pretty loud.

The gauge written by Doug Dawson, per his documentation, will not work in FSX.

The following is in the A-26 doc folder:

"INSTALLATION FOR FS9 ONLY

To activate the engine start gauge, remove the // from window00 gauge 31
and ensure you have the latest FSUIPC installed (3.74, as of April 2,
2007,
) available here:
http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html
Version 3.7 is the earliest version which the starter gauge will work with.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Optional FS9 Engine Start Gauge Notes:

The included optional A26_engine_start.gau from D. Dawson has been
modified so the engines can be started using the overhead panel.
Speaking of which, that is a two step process. First engage the desired
engine, then click and hold the starter switch for that engine.

The engine start gauge can be engaged in spot view either by pressing
<Ctrl><e> to automatically start both engines in sequence, or by
following the standard keyboard commands to start the engines individually.
Regarding compatibility, the startup gauge will only work with FS9. It
will not work with FSX or with FS2002.

The sound gauge will not work with FS2002, but will work with FSX, and
is digitally signed for use in that sim. Commenting the sound gauge out
of the panel.cfg for FS2002 compatibility will not affect the working of
the panel, beyond the loss of the energizer sound.
In both cases, use of these gauges in unsupported versions of FS will
result in crashes to desktop.

i have that at 100 haha adjusted just for this aircraft but i guess i cant have that ear deafening roar of a radial! just flew in an HU-16 Albatross this weekend (real life) sounded great!

Milton, after reading your post about the engine start gauge I installed a more recent version of FSUIPC (v3.98a, March 2010) even though the one I had should have worked. Do I need to have the registered (payware) full-featured FSUIPC? Sorry to come across as a dumbsh*t with this, if it's working in FS9 for other folks it should work for me, that's what I'm using. :banghead:

No, the freeware registered version is all yoiu need.

Thanks Milton,

I'll track down the -1 and the borate bomber that I passed on when they first appeared. Along with what I've got now, those should get me up to speed.

I gave up on the Doug Dawson starter gauge. Must have something to do with my FS2004 install or XP or whatever. Just p*sses me off when I can't make something work right. :banghead: Thanks anyway Milton for trying to help.

Today, I just finished 2 solid days of packaging and uploading for the AT-11 (8 models and 25 textures sets, and a paint kit) to upload to 4 sites. I am now done. Maybe now I can look at that for you.

Thanks, Milton. I used prop textures from my B-25J Mitchell, and get the faint display of prop textures I was looking for. Excellent!!

Frag (and anybody else who can use it),
Here's a prop texture I came up with after tweaking the original. Not quite as visible as I'd like, but you see the blades and the yellow tips. Just right-click and save it, then substitute in your plane's texture file.
