Doug Smith's Fairey Firefly

Great work so far :salute:

Keep at it! :ernae:

We need a really good Fairey Firefly, the others are "disappointing" to say the least....

Very Nice! The Firefly is really comming along, mate. Can't wait to have a go with her....:salute:

Looking good Doug! I cant believe I missed this thread.

Pretty nice that you were able to get such nice interior views of the switches and all. Great to have things like that to go by. You can almost build those panel sections right over the pictures in Gmax.

Brilliant modelling work!

Any news Doug? We're eagerly awaiting.

WH

Still working away. I've created many more parts and each one needs mapping. Very tedious. The VC has been the focus over the last several months. There is more modeled in the vc than there is in the entire exterior. I know some of you guys like to spend a lot of time in there, myself I like the spot view. So hopefully you Interior flyers will enjoy the detail I've put in to the components. If you've ever seen the Canadian Warplane Heritage's Mk6, the VC will be modeled as close as possible to that since it's has been my reference throughout the project. I really wanted to have it uploaded for Christmas for everyone, but, I'm learning new things which will make this a better model in the end. Therefore we'll have to wait a little longer. Thanks for asking WH, cheers. Back to it!

Doug

Exciting news today!!! After months of harassing Bill ( Lionheart) Ortis to learn the unlimited export technique and lots of trial and error - I produced a model!!

The animations are off a bit, no worries. We can fix that. But notice the smallest thinest details - not crumpled!!Look at the tire tread - you can see the depth of the treads! Every fine detail of the cockpit is preserved! ( not textured yet completely):jump: oh and frame hit - NONE!!!

So I'm glad to be able to share these new shots today. Much thanks to Bill and his mentors for sharing this with me.

oh my..... *Stunned look* she's a beauty, great work, nearing the finish line now :ernae: second it's done your first round is on me! :salute: no if's or buts! great work and looking forwards to it, that detail is nice....

EDIT** My paint brushes can't wait to put on my touring scheme onto this, and a few racer schemes, i can't remember but did you do a version without the pod alongside this for release at same time? or am i just getting prematurely senile? :icon_lol:

Doug, you had my respected interest when you started this project. Now, with this, you're forming a new mold to what's in store. This is exciting to see you also pulverizing the poly limitations! :ernae:

As a local cheese advert says - "Good things take time"

This certainly looks like it's maturing into a first class effort - well done.

I assure you that Doug is still very hard at it, fighting the good fight, and taking on and winning out over new challenges. Progress comes slowly the first trip through but the rewards are great. Onward and upward Doug. :applause:

The Firefly project is winding down fellas. :jump: I'm looking into having some gauges done for her, then out of the hanger she comes! I just compiled a perfect model and took some shots for ya. Here is the final look of the FR5 model. Other variations will be included in the release which I'm thinking will be "soonish"...there I said it.:icon_lol:
I really have to thank Milton for his guidance of late. Panels and gauges...sheeesh. Thank you sir. Bill Lionheart has also been a great help to me, as well as the good folks over at FSDeveloper.com trying to figure out this Unlimited Export method together. It's been great fun. So here are the final results ( minus gauge work ) of the modeling, the screen shots I took yesterday.
