A Lockheed "Rounder"

A clean one w/o turret with the drop tanks please? (5th variant).

Excellent work Milton and Matt!

Oh and for the tanker guys I second tankerguy72's suggestion!

I say aye to that also! :salute::unitedkingdom: :greece: :USA-flag: (safekeeping)

Now...if only I had that missing part...:isadizzy:

well the assessment bird is done... but unfortunately it gave me an idea.... 'Tsetse', Tsetse was a 57mm Autocannon mounted in the Chin of the DH.98, used for anti-shipping... Milton fancy a fictional shipping terror? :icon_lol:

anyways, here's the Photo Recon/Bomb Damage Assessment Harpoon, given an olive drab paint (Fresh tone, not worn, faded tone), perfect for overflying the jungles or right at home in Europe...

A long-range PR variant w/tanks and camera ports makes sense, it was a very long-range war in the Aleutians and Northern Kuriles - 12 hours endurance with external and internal tanks sounds good.:salute:

No problem, clean with tanks, a 6th variant.

Great work by everyone! Can we sneak in a tanked mdl for us tanker freaks? :kilroy: *ducking from any gunfire :icon_lol:

If you all want this as a 7th variant, it would help to have some better reference pictures from which to model. This will take a few days and not one that I can just "sneak" in. I need reference material and I need capacities/weights, doors info, etc.

Okay, we have eight variants now:

T=Tanks, G=Guns, R=Rockets, H=Hardpoints

1) Civilian Clean
2) TGR + torpedoes
3) TGH + torpedoes (No rockets)
4) GR + torpedoes (No Tanks)
5) G Only
6) Clean with T - tanks
7) Fire Tanker - "C" model
8) "D" Model in typical dress - one version

Versions 2-5 include the turret of course.

That looks great Matt.

As to the 57mm Autocannon, I suggest you fire up the xa-38 Grizzly with the 75mm autocannon and get the job really done with her. :)

i've gone a bit more sedate with this next WIP Paint, just a few Civvy birds lined up... image to come once i've fleshed out an idea :salute:

That Grizzly is one heck of an airplane. Its FAST, and DEADLY, and in my humble opinion, one of "Shupe Industries" best. It has an excellent 2D and VC and a superb flight model. Not to mention it has the "look" of a real hunter. Thanks Milton. :salute:

There... sorry to get off topic. back to the Harpoon variants. I like the idea of a fire tanker too. One that looks like it's put out a few.

yeah love the grizzly for practicing my multi-engine taildragger approaches and landings...

no work currently getting done.... watching Olympiacos vs. Schalke :icon_lol:

Have to agree BB686. :)

I have just completed adding the mechanism to drop the external fuel tanks and weight for the clean version (with tanks). Works great thanks to the gauge by Robert Sanderson (also used on the F7F-3 with permissions).

Now have 6 variants working and currently updating them all.

With the Grizzly, I tend to fly the Navy version with the torpedoes (is there a theme here?). It would have made one heck of an anti-shipping aircraft.

well my groundcrew asked if i could take their photo in preservational memory of the 4th paint.... so i obliged.... they looked puzzled until they saw me running and getting in the Harpoon, then over the engines there was an audible "oh c*ap!"..... the camera is at the right height relative to their position....

Milton - I checked what sources I could find on the internet (all my books are in storage across the causeway) - re: the recon version, all I can find shows a dorsal turret but no external tanks. I couldn't see pylons under the wings, not even for the external tanks. Makes sense not to have rocket pylons on the wings for a recon bird, no combat intended. Wish I could be more specific for you, you're busy - but much appreciated!:salute:

Thank you for that research. What about nose guns?

Smart a...tailed kid!

Got the 6 variants redone, unfortunately 2 with configuration errors on my part. :-/

Nigel has sent the sound pack ... great stuff!

Fliger has continued improvements on the flight model ... on the numbers and handles beautifully.

Tank drops work great thanks to Robt. Sanderson's gauge.

TG72 has sent some reference pics for the fire tanker, more expected, and hope to start that tomorrow.

I have looked through all my data and do not have a 3-view to model teh "D" nose. Anyone have access to that model variant 3-view or an excellently positioned side-view picture.
