Thanks GE - I was going to resurrect the old threads on this - but I guess a new one is fine.
For posterity / ease of searching sake, it might be good to alter the thread title to include "Virtavia" and "FSX portover" - as Alphasim did two rounds of Phantoms over the years, one set for CFS2/2002/2004, and the much better set for FS2004 that has been ported by Don et al to which you refer. Since both are freeware, someone visiting their freeware site may get confused ...
It might be worth adding some links to mods/past discussion on this, as this has all been gone over before:

Pack three is, in my view, the best in FSX - it ports with the least issues, and of course - there's the RF-4 ... what more do I need to say?
Packs 1/2 are pretty good (Go Don! Sorry for confusing you and Henk!) In "clean" config, the VC looks good. If tank models are selected, though, there are some little windows to the exterior. Again, it's a port - small niggles here and there ...
Some key repainters' work I VERY MUCH recommend: note - these are FS9 repaints
- Steve Bryant - our own "Duckie" - USN/USMC paints that simply rock.
- Markus Hellwig - our own "Wild Bill Kelso" - not posting much these days - but did some great paints, esp German ones
- Michael Pearson - the man is a production machine - prodigious amount of paints ...
- Gus Robatto - as outlined by Expat already. Simply stunning repaints done almost a decade ago - and still look good.
- Pierre Lheureux - did some really nice photorealistic work. He did some lovely oddball Phantoms .... I miss him ...
- Frank Safranek - I think we know who he is ...
Lots of great repaints from him too - most on his website and here.
I know I've missed a bunch - but just to get the AS/V Phantom newbies up to speed.
