As the nature of things progress...

So I did cheat a bit to get all the way up to Mt Everest.... our intrepid 'Biggles' is glad of his electrically heated 'Sidcot' suit and gloves....

found it ran out of puff at 12,000ft; probably due to density effect...

Should be getting 16,000ft; thanks for highlighting this, and the PM solution, Pete! :encouragement:

Yeah....the Lynx powered Tutor would run out of steam somewhere around 11,000 -12,000 feet. (Think Stearman with a 220 hp Continental..)

If you want to rampage around the mountain peaks, you'd need the 626 Prefect. It's running a supercharged Cheetah V, getting you about three quarters into Pratt & Whitney R985 territory. Carries more fuel, too. Maybe not bad for a Himalayan expedition.

IIRC Magoo, only the Prefects supplied to Egypt and Brazil had Cheetah engine, the rest retained carb fed Lynx.

Correct, Gentlemen. :)

The cheetah (Armstrong Siddeley Lynx Major to put the cat among the pigeons) was my own preference for the 626 Prefect in its most powerful version. This is reflected well in an interesting range of flight models, from the docile Mongoose powered 621 to the lively 626 Prefect.

All NEW flight models should reach you fine Gentlemen later this evening. :wavey:

Once more into the breach Nigel.

Got'em, thank you Nigel! Now to see what has changed. It's amazing that this is still not a release version.

Thank YOU, Sascha :)

Improvements?
I have an interesting array of mainly small items and model refinements to complete once we are finished testing the flight models.
We also have the float versions to set up with flight models for testing, too.

Enjoy the Test Flying, my friend! :encouragement:

Between the recently heavier than usual demands of life and an efort to minimize the use of an ailing confutor I've barely had a chance to check out these planes. Whenever I do get the chance I get impressed all over again!

Avro Prefect exhaust flames

Hallo friends
I added just a little feature in the aircraft cfg
For me it is very nice when flying in the morning or evening light

[LIGHTS]
light.0= 3, 5.10, 00.30, -2.41, fx_a6m5_exhaust

as you would put the nav lights on after the engine has fired it would go well
but other possibilities to switch the exhaust effect on might be possible
It is well for the Prefect now I will have a look for the other Avro's

Yours
Papi

I like to fly low & slow, so what am I doing here? The AVRO's are doing absolute great at low altitudes, why would somebody like to fly them at these altitudes where they hardly respond?

Aye Huub! :)

That's what these gals are truly all about - looking good there, Sir.
Hope you're enjoying their improved side-slip capabilities, too.

I am! Only had a couple of brief flits so far, as work has gotten in the way of things.

That's great news, and much appreciated, Pete - I know how busy you are with RW work at present.

I'm now going through each model, adding improvements for each version. Now have proper photographic reference for the cockpit slot lever, and have rebuilt/re-textured accordingly.

Currently converting the fuel filler cap to indicate fuel level as per RW.

Thank you downwind - I'm aiming at Easter for the release providing everything goes to plan. :encouragement:

Meanwhile, now that we have a pretty awesome set of flight models, we're gradually working down that list of items/details which need the final touch.
