BearStudios: MiG-15Bis for MSFS Released 3/1

It appears Richard, the latest update from Bear killed your repaint. It just comes up as a blank skin now. i received the update today thorugh Sim Market. Looks like they have eliminated a layer of metalic reflection - d

Yes dvj, indeed with this SP1 all repaints now display a blank skin !

And I still have this general metallic look on all the liveries.
Wasn't the update supposed to fix this problem?

Of course I will update my TC-616 repaint to make it compatible with this SP1.

Yes, the update did not fix the metallic sheen problem.

Has anyone figured out exactly how the update messed up the repaints? I have discovered that the repaints still work fine if I install them the old-fashioned P3D/FSX way, by copying the texture folder to the main MiG-15 folder, adding an entry to the aircraft.cfg, and then regenerating the json files for the addon. If's a bit laborious and would get messed up by any future updates to the plane, but it works. That tells me that the repaint textures are still fine, the model is just not loading them for some reason. Might be an easy tweak to the container files or something? Anyway, for those of you who know what I'm talking about and can't live without your favorite repaints while waiting for them to be updated, this is a way to get them going again.

I couldn't get my TC-616 repaint compatible with SP1.
I can't find where it gets stuck! I tried several solutions, each time I get either the generic aluminum texture without marking, or a pink texture!
In order to be able to continue working on my current livery, I opted for the solution of adding my paints to the main Bear Studios folder.

OK Richard, I think I got the repaints working. It has to do with Bear Studios' decision to name their blank model folder model.0 instead of something sensible like model.baremetal. The 0 seems to confuse external repaints into choosing the wrong model; when model="" is specified it uses model.0 which doesn't load textures. I have been able to make external repaints work by doing the following.

- Copy the plane's "model" folder into your repaint alongside your texture.xxx folder, but rename it "model.1"
- Specify model="1" in your repaint's aircraft.cfg file
- Don't forget to rebuild the json for the repaint

Let me know if it works for you.

Confirm this works with all the repaints.

I don't suppose anyone has told Bear Studios about this issue. Should be an easy fix for them.

I don't really understand :banghead:
I'd rather wait for the update

An update for a model when there's an update for the whole sim. I hope this turns out to be a good idea!!

I was thinking the same thing. Considering how SU12 supposedly touches just about everything in the sim, if I were an addon dev I might hold off a bit on updates.

Awesome weathering on that new skin Richard.

I got mine from Just Flight and they do not show this update, all they have for my account is MSFS_MiG15Bis_Ver1.3.1_SP1_JF.exe?
