C-47 (FS9) uploaded

I'm going to re-tweak the UN version so it may take a bit more time. I just can't settle on the amount of panel lines showing through the white paint job.

Is there a chance to get an update for this "Beauty" with removed "door" ??? 100 times sorry for asking, I love it as it is. But for using a "parachute effect" its not so authentic :kilroy:

Thanks Quax/Andi and sorry for the belated reply. Yes I think I will release a variant with just the inner door removable for paratroop or cargo dropping ops (first for FSX then for FS9).

Does anybody know how to get some actual parachutists in on the act? I believe the MAAM developers have managed to do just that. Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for the link John - seems to work OK in FS9. It's a smoke effect triggered by "I". If the MAAM people did it this way also one might get the right chutes and more of a tumbling effect.

There are effects available for parachutes with old-fashioned round canopies.

I have these in my effects folder, but I can't find the original downloaded zip files, so I think that means they must have come with an aircraft:

Parachutists, round canopies:

fx_JFM_Para_G

fx_JFM_Para_D

Since I can't find the original downloaded zip files or figure out where they came from, I can't identify the associated texture files. I looked in my Effects/Texture folder and found nothing that has a title suggestive of these effects, and when I opened the effects file I saw texture file names called for that don't correspond with anything I have in my Effects/Texture folder. I seem to have lost those texture files! Maybe this will stimulate someone to remember these effects and where they got them. (If so, I'll be asking them to send me a copy of the associated textures!) When I opened the effects files to see the texture file names, I saw that the notes in the effects file are written in French. Maybe that will be a clue for someone...

I also have these versions of a German or Swiss fallschirmjäger:

Summer uniform: fx_fallsg.fx

Winter uniform: fx_fallsw.fx

I can't figure out where I got these files either, but I do have the associated texture files. (I've enclosed them in the attached zip file) but I don't know how you'd feel about using a file that can't be credit to its creator...

Maybe someone here will recognize these files and know where they came from.

Also in the zip file are the parachutist effect and associated texture files from Vladimir Zhyhulskiy's AN-2. It's not really an old style round chute; it seems to be a post-war Paracommander. From any distance it looks pretty much like an old round chute, and I think it looks much more appropriate for any C-47 in a vintage paint job than a modern rectangular chute. It might not be perfect, but at least you'd know who to ask for permission to use their files.

Mick,

Those effects (and the amended version Manfred is showing above) were developed for the Primavesi Ju 52; presumably a search in the usual places will find it.

Thanks Mick, using your file names I was able to pinpoint Jean-François Martin as their author (hence "JFM"). He built the FS9 Noratlas, available at Flightsim, and the effects files you mention are created by the installer (including bmps) and they are also triggered as smoke effects. They have the round chutes but as far as I am concerned they look less convincing than the ones shown in the pic above. Has anyone here been able to get the ones on MAAM's C-47 Extension package to work?

Didn't see any Shockwave mods for this baby and I obviously didn't pass on my version, So here it is. I also nicked Nigel's exhaust bits from the Duck to add a touch more realism. Gotta love this bird.
