C123 repaints continued.

No worries Mick I have an Unassigned bare metal USAF that will do nicely:d

Great!

Looks like the drop tanks might be da-glo too...

And it probably had the SAC badge on the sash on the other side. Wasn't that how it went - just the sash on the port side, sash with insignia on the starboard side...???

OK, I did some quick research.

The SAC sash, when present, went on the port side, with the unit badge on the starboard.

Sometimes there were no badges on either side, just the sash, and that seems to be the way it was on this C-123.

Hi all:

I am having to cruise this bird at 170 KIAS to prevent flying with a nose high attitude. The readme file say it's cruise speed is 170 MPH. When I fly it straight and level at that speed (149 KIAS) the nose is too high. I'm trying it now with an edit to the aircraft.cfg file in the [WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE] section to read as follows:

empty_weight_CG_position=10,0,0

This nearly levels it out. Anyone else notice this condition, or toy with a fix for it? (Made this change early in a long cross-country flight, so haven't tried to land or taxi it since. Don't know how much those procedures will be effected.)

I'm really enjoying these aircraft and repaints. My thanks to the talented folks who created them, and to those who suggested the fixes in this thread!

Just uploaded them both, and heres a piccie of the USAF bare metal scheme, I will be working on the SAC over the next few days.

A correction to my earlier note, where I wrote that the SAC sash, when present. went on the port side...

The sash was on both sides. What I meant was that the SAC emblem went on the left and the unit (usually wing) badge went on the right, both superimposed on the sash.

But you probably knew what I meant...

So this bird apparently had just the sash on both sides, and no emblems.

Just uploaded the USAF SEA scheme. It will show up once admins done it's thing.

I have just got this one finnished, it's from the 606 SOS 56 SOW, Nakhon Phanom RTNAB, 1970. I will upload it in a few mins then i'm off too bed as it's 0300 hrs here and I need me beauty sleep :d .

Both paints have now appeared for download. Douglas must be a bloomin insomniac :d.

This has really renewed my interest in this aircraft. I've given mine some cfg changes and modded the cockpit instruments to suit my tastes and get rid of all the duplicate instruments. Seems the only major issue remaining is that the landing lights are not visible when in the virtual cockpit. I kind of doubt that I'll be able to fix that one.

Trans_1007, I was thinking the same thing. Between this and the Convair 240 from CalClassics with the Freight Dog paint scheme, some serious flying could be done. Now where's my copy of Steve Stills' song "Tree Top Flier"? :ernae:

Next up will be another South Vietnamese scheme. It will be uploaded this evening.

Steve

My bad I got distracted by another one, still got too add all the arabic script and the scheme is fictional, I haven't seen a cammo scheme on a Saudi Provider and wondered how it might of looked.
