Canberra B.2 freeware pack out now!

Not bad at all, biggest issue with that is B-111 was a T.64 trainer, so you need a different model mate! But don't worry, a dedicated Argentine pack is coming so you'll be fine there. You also need a different font on the serial numbers (the '1's are slightly less serif), make the fuselage roundel a bit smaller, and also the nose serial.

Still, as a huge fan of Argentine Canberras, it's nice to see someone else take an interest in it. If you want dedicated reference, check out my web site - tons of pics and details, plus I have the entire Grupo 2 de Bombardeo for Paul Fosters models on there you can you use for reference.

Keep up the good work,

Steve

Very good, couple other things - take the fuel point patches off the wings - the B.2 type Canberras only had fuselage tanks, no wing tanks, and make the flag on the tail a little smaller. Other than that, VERY nice! Love the G2B shield on the nose, good detail. If I were you, I would make the serial in the range of B-101 to B-110 until the dedicated Argentine pack comes out - more accurate that way.

99+34 nearing completion...

RAF camo scheme rebuilt from scratch, same goes for the underwing target tug marking stripes. I think I have to apply them a little different from the original, as they won't match at the cowlings (same mapping for #1 and #2 engine in that area...). The Luftwaffe's 99+34 obviously had some aerial mapping and photographing equipment mounted in the bomb bay, so I added some hatches and lenses there.

Should be launched today...

Cheers,
Markus.

Don:

Posted you an answer over there:

It's the right-hand button...

And just because I'm already getting used to the very multi-layered paintkit (as a PaintShopPro user, the PSD layer group toggle won't work for me...), here comes an other German Canberra:

YA153_1.jpg

YA153_2.jpg

YA153_3.jpg

YA153_4.jpg

YA153_5.jpg

As you can see, it's YA+153 (c/n 6652, later 99+36) in its pre-1968 metal finish and markings. The "YA" code tells her assigned to "Erprobungsstelle 61", which (more or less) means testing and evaluation unit. Prior to 1968, Luftwaffe's codes were unit-based (as an example, "JA" meaning Jagdgeschwader 71 "Richthofen"). Thus, all aircraft assigned to Erprobungsstelle 61 had a "YA+" reg, no matter what type of aircraft. Even some F-86 (Canadair) Sabres were showing this code.

Some rare pics of this variant show the wing walk markings appearing rather black than yellow.

Time for (the usual) last-minute-corrections...

Cheers,
Markus.

Markus, great work on the silver B.2, especially the work you did on the belly mounted camera equipment. Good detail. I sympathise with you on the the TT.18 stripes; the problem is you are working on a model that was not intended for that scheme, and hence was not mapped to cover it - lol, you are probably painting the only B.2 to ever feature underwing stripes! The good news is, the TT.18 model DOES map properly (literally hours spent troubleshooting the mapping I can tell you!), so ultimately you could paint one of those up if you want. Of course the TT.18 had some other visual differences so won't be 100% compared with your German B.2.

Yes, multi-layered PSD indeed, and I can tell you that the ones you are working with are significantly collapsed-down from the originals! That was the closest to 'paint kit' as I could get without the user losing too much control. But everyone seems to be getting on really well so keep it up.

I'm posting some sneak peaks over on the WIP thread of what's to come next.

Zsolts, once again, nice work, and keep that scheme handy for when the actual B-57A/RB-57A pack comes out.

Thanks a lot, Steve!

Yep - I noticed some areas in the wing texture file prepared for further nacelles but currently not in use for the B.2 model.

You obviously have spent a lot of time and thoughts on details, so I sincerely hope my repaints do your model justice. Although the amount of layers appeared a little confusing to me at first glance, it wasn't too hard to recognize its "inner logic". Cleaning it up a little by erasing not needed layers and merging other ones wasn't hard at all!
That was fun!

I really appreciate and enjoy your hard work!

Cheers,
Markus.

Yes indeed, while it is not really my favourite, I know there is a lot of interest in the PR.9, as well as the other fighter canopy types. Again, it depend on how sales go. That is Bill Holker's model, very nice indeed, and don't forget, Paul Foster produced a very nice new series of PR.9s a few years ago you could use.

Hello Steve,

Admittedly, the model is beautiful, just not a nice 3D cockpit...

One of my favorite features include the ground supplies, blocks, covers, ladders, etc.!
What file is responsible for these effects???

Thank you!

Regards,

Zsolt

Hi Zsolt,

I too am a fan of 'parked parts', and Bill's accessories on the PR.9 are very nice. There is, however, no one file that produces them; they are built into the model file itself with coding to make the parts appear with a certain condition. For instance, as you probably have seen, mine are set to appear with the parking brake set and 0 PSI hydraulic pressure.

Bill Holker is a brilliant modeller, I learned a lot from his work.

I love your new nose art by the way!

Yes!
These 'parked parts' of the models to make it enjoyable!
Unfortunately, not every model is made

Extremely cool shots mate, nothing like seeing an operational bird with all that gear around her. Love the last one of the pilot heading for the 'office'.

Great work on your 99+35, Zsolt! :salute:
Gee - this Can is dirty. I love it!

From all the pics I've collected, the WTD61 Cans (99+34, 99+35, 99+36) always appeared a little unnatural "clean & polished", but this may be caused by the occasions they were photographed (airport open house parties etc.). I still can't imagine an old rugged workhorse like this always looking neat and polished, especially considering the quite smoky startup procedure...

Anyway - I decided to let my 99+34 come around rather clean with a subtle gloss all over (except the RAF camoed wings of course!).

This way, our users may have the options.

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks

The repaints all look great, will be adding them to my collection ASAP. Thanks for the dedicated hours of brush work.

Steve, finally got round to enjoying the Cran and that's an understatement. Here's some pics of my test flights (not the greatest pics, but they're mine and I love them! :d).

Any thoughts about the Shorts SC9? A one off I know, but you obviously appreciate the rare and quirky versions.

many thanks,
Jamie
