CBI Scenery Project

I have been AWOL, I assume you are reworking Talon's missions ,which I have. Will your work be available when finished?
I already put up Defense of Rangoon the end of Last year and it was 28 missions.it has been expanded to 41 missions and it cover until March 1942 but hasn't been uploaded yet.The next set is AVG China and covers until the AVG is disbanded.

Yes they follow Talon's work but have some changes because there is more info available now.The total of missions should be over 70.It will take time because sometimes takes a couple of hours to convert them from the old scenery to the new.

I know it is a tremendous amount of work. I have not been able to spend too much time here as my wife has been dealing with Long Covid debilitating fatigue for 4+ years. She can't drive anymore due to dizzy spells as well, so I do all the driving and I will be 90 in October. I have really enjoyed the work done here through the years. I have contributed little. I did run Rami's missions in the early days to check them out and did some help with Cactus Airforce. Thank you and your son for the nice work.

Progress has slowed whilst I work on Andrew's Fiat G55.

But the intention is for the next part to cover the area Chittagong - Agartala - Dacca & the Ganges mouth.

It will include runways at:

Feni & it's satellite Fazilpur
Comilla & it's satellite Chandia
Agartala & it's satellite Singarbil
The Dacca area strips of Kurmitola & Tezgaon

plus the usual smattering of gsl for points of interest šŸ˜‰

So after a lot of laying rail tracks, river runs etc., we've finally arrived in the Dacca(Dhaka) area...

North of Dacca are the strips at Tezgaon & Kurmitola

The rail lines head north from Dacca past these to strips, then branches NE to cross the river Meghna at Bhairab, on it's way past Agartala.

By the start of 1944, a small amount of airbase development had taken place at Fenny

but much of the effort was in finishing the satellite fields -

Fazilpur, SE of Fenny

Singarbil, W of Agartala airstrip

North of Dacca, Kurmitola's satellite strip at Tezgaon received an upgrade with a longer runway...

Progress report.

Wanting a bit of a change, I headed back East & South, & extended the Burmese coast southwards.

I've gotten as far south as Palaw (a small river port just north of Mergui), & have the gsl done as far south as Tavoy.

Getting something finished for release will take some time - there are a lot of islands in the Mergui archipeligo, & precious few air facilities to break the monotony, but I am aiming to get the rest of the Burmese coastline finished...

Some pics of progress made so far...

Mergui & the landing strip there. Seems it was only used for a short period during 1943 by B5N Kates of 551 ku

I know I said there were few air facilities south of Tavoy, but I did find a couple of mentions of JAP Emergency strips near Kadwe & Palaw...

Lastly, a couple of wide views...

UT,

I have a request for a couple of air fields so can do the the second part of the AVG while they were in China. These bases were used shortly before the were disbanded and used when the became the CATF.There is no hurry because I'm still working on the Marianas which may take at least another month.I also have to look up their names.

I'm guessing

Kweilin (eventually 3 runways here)
Hengyang

I think CATF/23rd FG used some more as well in this Central China area....

Plus some target area fields as well?

Haiphong, Hong Kong, plus some JAP-occupied city airfields?

Looking at the AVG complete airbases list, I should probably should also re-do some more Thai bases as well.

So much yet to do...

Well you mentioned the right ones.Their the only ones I need to complete the AVG China. This will be about 30 missions.

I have the AVG done and is has 41 missions,it includes the Defense of Rangoon I already uploaded.

CATF is low on the list right now.I want to finish the Big E in the Marianas and after in the Philippines.

The CATF needs a lot more bases and I'm not working on it yet.
