Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

City Textures rework

Yes, agreed this lighter concrete is slightly better. The slab look is good, but IMO just a little heavy as GC says. How about combining the two and vary the opacity/blend to get a slight slab effect and lighter concrete.

Of course it depends at what height you're viewing the texs and the light conditions, you can't totally please both conditions!! lol

Cheers

Shessi

The heaviness is more due to the thickness of the divisions than the opacity I think. I can increase tire marks to add a bit more character.

Adding the paving effect is tricky work when angles are involved and though interesting does look a bit stylized the more I think about it.

I like them both Glen , probably leaning towards the lined version. It looks more 'airfieldy'.1000055759.jpg

This is the apron at Tangmere, I don't know if this was ever re-laid to accommodate jets though.

I think this will be "airfieldy" enough for you Clive while being less heavy. I doubled the resolution of the texture and redrew the lines, thereafter decreasing the resolution. With a bit of blurring and opacity adjustment.....VIOLA!

I must restore Kenley's runway paving lines. So now we've ended up with a nice light concrete with subtle paving.

Way to go guys! good teamwork!(y)

Nice work Glen,
Hawkinge grass tex looks good, fits well, but personally I think the concrete has lost definition and it's too pinky

Hey Shessi! the concrete, it IS pink.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
