    Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

    You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

    If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

    To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

DC-4 Skymaster

For all: I deleted all the files that were no longer useful on my Dropbox and I managed to revalidate the links. However, this solution is not sustainable since this company blocks the bandwidth at 20GB, so if 20 people download at the same time, it risks recurring.

I will see if Priller agrees so that we can upload this same WIP version in the Resources section of SOH, knowing that there should at most be 1 or 2 updates to reach the final version 1.0

As for the remarks made by Gray Eagle:
- no, I will not remove the flame effects because they are too embedded in the XML code and for the following reasons:
1) these effects appear on some videos of DC-4 when starting the engines, so they are realistic
2) the display of these effects is managed by the level of mixture; after takeoff, the mixture must be set to 10 or 15%, and under these conditions the effects disappear on their own, so if they persist, it’s because you are using the engines at full-rich level.
- for the "tail boom", I will try to change the code so that it appears after landing when all 4 engines are off, the parking brake is engaged, and the plane is parked ...
- for the pilot with helmet ... it is just some lines in the aircraft.cfg to change:

Current aircraft.cfg PILOT section for C-54
Code:
[PILOT]
pilot = "Pilot_Male_Military"
copilot = "Pilot_Male_Military"
instructor ="Pilot_Male_Uniform"
pilot_default_animation ="Idle1_PosePropeller","","","","","","","","","","","","","","",""
copilot_default_animation ="Idle1_PosePropeller","","","","","","","","","","","","","","",""
instructor_default_animation ="Idle1_PosePropeller","","","","","","","","","","","","","","",""
pilot_attach_node="PILOT_0"
copilot_attach_node="PILOT_1"
instructor_attach_node="PILOT_2"

You can change and take the lines of the DC-4 which are that:
Code:
[PILOT]
pilot ="Pilot_Male_Uniform"
copilot ="Pilot_Female_Uniform"
instructor ="Pilot_Male_Uniform"
...

For DennyA: in fact, I have remove this repaint because I need to recreate it from scratch, I have used an old repaint for FSX finded on AVsim library but with MSFS it should be redone entirely.

Thanks Hollister for your video: this one I hadn’t managed to find ;)

Thank you Didier, the aircraft gets better and better. I noticed a couple of things:

- the elevator trim tabs do not move, not animated?
- the trim indicator has a red triangle that probably should move and indicate the trim setting. For me it is just set fully forward and does not move. This makes setting take-off trim a guess.
- the aircraft at cruise flies not level but somewhat nose up.
- The metallic shine on painted surfaces sometimes overpowers the color. You just see the shine. Like the red propeller tips of the SAAF model.

So far, I haven’t had time to take care of the trims, whether it’s the exterior animations or the three indicators in the cockpit. That’s something I wanted to address after the PBR textures.

The FDM (flight model) were not processed either: they should be at the last moment, after the sounds are finalized.

All the points I addressed are described in the ChangeLog provided and updated very regularly. What is not addressed in this file has not yet been processed, but very few people read this file.

Here is video of what those R-2000 engines sound like from inside the aircraft. Would be nice if you could import some of the internal sounds
to your project. I am searching for exterior sounds.

Thanks ... but all theses videos are yet on my hard disk, and precisely the last one from which I started to isolate the sound track to extract the engine start-up sounds.

For the tail boom, I have make some flight this morning with the C-54 and this tail boom is displayed ... when the user use CTRL+SHIFT+E to shutdown the engines not when the "normal procedure" i.e. the reverse procedure of cold & dark startup is used.
In fact the automatic shutdown set automaticly the parking brake and in this case all the conditions to display the tail boom are present and it's displayed. So I changed the C-54_Enhanced.XML (and also DC4_Enhanced.xml) scripts to remove this setting of the automatic parking brake in case of CTRL+SHIFT+E.

For the Reeve Aleutian Airlines, this afternoon I have worked on a new set of textures: the overall color is much less dark and it finally looks like polished metal ;)

The new yoke to be integrated in the Firefighter in the next release. It is bigger (10%) than the standard one and supports the buttons necessary for releasing retardant/water and a watch for fire-fighting operations. 3D is finished, now I have to create the UVs and go to Ucupaint to the texture creation step.

I /// out as shown below - I thought doing that would remove tom cruise but he is still there.

////[PILOT]

////copilot ="Pilot_Female_Uniform"
////instructor ="Pilot_Male_Uniform"

Oh, thank you for rebuilding the paint! Excited to fly it soon! Looks great in the screenshot.

I really appreciate you doing it!

If we ever end up in the same place, I would love to buy you beverages of your choice. :) The fantastic work you're doing on this, the Canso, etc. is so appreciated.
