Douglas A20 Havoc

Well, after seven days, I am almost there. Not sure I am completely satisfied yet with the windshield. I may delete this work and try another approach.

Yay, Sir!!!

There's a whole realm of intricate workmanship hidden in there already - exemplary craftsmanship to us all, Maestro :)

The windshield area is very satisfactory for now so I am working on to the horizontal tail, elevators and trim tabs. I am looking for a good reference picture for the elevator hinge mechanism.
The best I have is from the E&M manual.

The tail section is about done. I usually attach the horizontal tail to the fuselage and weld the parts to get a good fit. With this done, I will now detach them because the smoothing is not to my liking but I will end up with a good fit.

EDIT: With the htails now detached, I have the main hatch animated and ready to move on.

Lots of distractions this morning ...

Now that I have the wing root, filet, and tip angled, shaped and sized correctly, we will now do some slicing and cutting to segment the wing, improve shading, and then do the wing tip.

After that, I can set the dihedral and begin on the control surfaces.

Mate the speed you are progressing at makes me breathless just trying to keep up.

Thanks guys. If it were not for the distractions today, I would have had both wings done by now thanks to all my helpers (see attached :)

I did get the dihedral set, the wing segmented, flaps, aileron, trim tab cut in, and set the wing tip incidence to -1 degree.

Had my afternoon nap so I am ready to finish the wings up before bedtime tonight.

Very nice work on her, Milton, and those sure are some detailed blueprints. Where do you find stuff like that?

I find a lot of reference material on the web but the really good stuff, the best material is donated by SOH members who have an interest in these projects.

We all benefit from their benevolence. :applause:

It certainly looks like Milton and team are trying to reach an Xmas deadline for us. All I've seen looks to be first class.

LOL GLH; maybe 2016 Christmas. But maybe we can deliver a Mallard for you by then ... maybe ... depending on .... well ... we shall see. LOL

After a two day break from the A-20 Havoc, I am back on it focusing on the engine cowlings, exhaust ring, nacelle, and props and engine face.
This is just the start of the engine group work.
