Air file

A question for Adamski,
I see you are using v1.4, is there any specific reason why you do not use v1.5?
And again many thanks for your superb painting (4096 is impressive!)

Two new liveries for the C-47.

First is German Air Force CA+011, a VIP aircraft of the "Regierungsstaffel" (Government Squadron) at Cologne airport, later to become known as the "Flugbereitschaft".

Second is German Air Force 14+07, a TACAN calibrator of the German Flight Calibration Unit 4./ FmL/VsuRgt 61 (4th squadron radio communication and navigation training and test regiment 61) at Lechfeld Air Base. The aircraft was formerly registered as CA+012 (sistership of CA+011) and after its VIP career handed over for flight calibration work. It initially retained its VIP colors and cabin and only received the day glow orange calibrator stripes, a TACAN test console and the "Theo"-Cross on the nose (a reference point on the aircraft for the theodolite-observer on the ground). It was later painted in standard camouflage.

Both aircraft come with updated models by Manfred Jahn, representing the German Air Force version and featuring and openable pilot side window (LH side only), two ADF loop and two ADF sense antennas and the TACAN antenna installed under the nose. Textures are in 4096 x 4096 resolution and contain stencils based on original artwork by B. Lechner via M. Jahn.

Next to follow are an updated ILS calibrator (14+01) and an updated NASARR aircraft, the radar training aircraft for F-104 Starfighter crews. Still WIP.

Files should be uploaded within the next couple of days.

Sorry - I missed the notification about your post!

I've been on all sorts of other projects and didn't realise v1.5 was out!! I must get onto that straight away!

Nice to see an updated NASARR model is coming! "Pinocchio" should be ready to go once it comes out.

Having a problem locating the new German liveries. Will you please provide a link.

Regards, Bill

Hi Bill, sorry, I am still working together with Manfred on a few bits and pieces and am also a bit busy (RW), so please be patient. I will announce the upload here.

Best regards,

Seawing

A CAF unification era repaint and an update to an earlier upload are now in the library.

What a sight, how many will they be in 25 years?
I mentioned in another thread that for the 1970 film of Catch-22 they had 17 flying B-25s. For the new mini series they managed 2. I'd have thought that new restorations would have increased the total, but apparently not.

Great watch and jealous of a co-worker's brother is over there helping with the CAF, I'd almost quit my job to be in the co-pilot seat in one of those planes on this day!

On the Warbird Information Exchange forum, I just recently began a count of the number of DC-3's (and all related types and modified versions) that are flying world-wide, and so-far my list, which I believe is quite "exhaustive", is up to 187 (two new flyers were just added today - C-FDTD and G-ANAF, which both flew today). Several of the South American and Thailand examples are guesses based on best available information (as to their statuses at this moment), and I'm still trying to get more information on any others I'm missing in South American and African countries (it would seem that a lot of those which had been operating within countries in those continents have been retired in recent years).

Douglas DC-3's (of all variants and modifications) flying:
Australia: 7 (VH-AES, VH-ABR, VH-AGU, VH-EAE, VH-EAF, VH-OVM, VH-TMQ)

Many thanks bomber!
I was wondering wether 'D Day Doll' was named after 6-6-44 but maybe not. Very fresh nose art then!

The "D-Day Doll" name is modern, though the airframe, like the rest that I have listed, is documented as having flown missions on D-Day.

BTW, I forgot to add a couple more to the list of D-Day vet surviving C-47's:

C-47 43-15211 N1944A (airworthy, but not flown in a while, owned by Kermit Weeks)
C-47 42-32832 "Sky King" N5106X (flying, owned by the Mid America Flight Museum)
