F7F Tigercat SOH Project

This "Thing" as you call it is one (actually 2 if ya include the light fighter) of the very few birds I keep on my active flight line. The vast majority of of fresh planes only hang around for a short time then migrate over to my off line hanger.

To be more precise about it, every Milton design pretty much stays in the flight line. This is especially true now that I have a machine which can do them the justice they all deserve.:jump:

LOL Can't say that I blame them either. :wiggle:

:wiggle:
I've recently been stricken colour blind! Can't see anything in the red spectrum...kinda looks wierd pinky-grey-brown, and Doc advises dark-bluish, so its the Tigercat for me too! :monkies:

I also checked all underside surfaces of the Tigercat for 'best used by' dates and 'Government health warnings'. Nothing there. Not like those silly things I keep lighting up while on FS! But Doc smokes like a worn out sleeve-valve, so not even that would put me off! (the Tigercat, not the smokes. Idiots...)

i'm looking forwards to the mapping done :) heck i might re-make my F7F-3N paintkit just for you lot... whaddya reckon?

Hi Matt; At least the F7F-3N has the other issues corrected that were apparent on the -3 whose mapping was really the -1 with the round short tail. But, the mapping is still temporary for those itching to slap paint. :)

Early Version?

Wasn't there supposed to be a -1 with the early, rounded rudder?

I can't find it in the library...

Thank you so much!!! :jump:

I've always favored the early versions!

And thanks for all the other versions you made, too!! :ernae:

Thanks Milton et al.

Attached in the .zip below are replacement textures I did for Milton's F7F-1 just released here at SOH. I changed the Font to the correct Long Island and made new orange vectored paint to sharpened the line at the nose. New National Insignia were done in vectored graphics to make it much sharper.

I included a new propwash. Milton has an all black alpha and the is no spinning prop visible.

Installation: Open the SOH-F7F-1 folder in FS9 or FSX and replace with the four texxtures enclosed. In FSX, it is advisible to leave Milton's spinprop as is and not replace it with my spinprop.

There is no need to alter the aircraft.cfg.

Yep thanks for posting this latest version... I'm really grateful you and Tom put this together, along with the other versions - it's historically interesting, beautiful, flies and sounds fantastic. Certainly one of my favorites - I hope someday a stock cockpit is completed.

Thanks Cazzie; that looks nice. :jump:

It is always a pleasure to provide for SOH members who never hestitate to show appreciation.
I feel certain that N2056 will jump on this when he frees up, after a break of course. :)

I just took the "dash 1" up for a few t&g's as well as some slow flight over the sunny beaches of Southern Australia. What a dreamy flyer she is. Oh.. She'll go if you put some jazz on the throttle, but she enjoys trundling along at a slower pace as well. Cazzie - your textures do wonderful things for the "dash-1". The F7F-1 may be a WIP, but if so, the finished Tigercat should be a "KNOCKOUT"!:ernae:

For some reason, the new model doesn't work in FSX anymore (at least not with the old textures)

Anyone can shed light on this and maybe even provide a workaround?

thanks a million in advance!!

What have you changed? What do you mean, "does not work anymore"?. Textures only? Panel? What are the symptoms?

Have you removed the gauges mentioned above?

Or, simply alias the panel to another F7F folder.

Another stunning plane.....

But I think there may be an issue with it, something with the space time continuum...every time I start the engines and take it up an hour seems goes by in the blink of an eye!

In other words, Thank you very much Mlton for another great one.

Also, from an aesthetic standpoint, I really like the -1'a rounder tail, it appeals to my favorite style of aircraft, so I will probably be flying this one even more than the others (which I was still flying)

Beers and Cheers.....

Bill

Hi Milton, I changed over the original wip model for the latest download. but no worries, I found the culprits in the FSX forum: gauges 29 and 30!! ;)

Thanks!
