F7F Tigercat SOH Project 2D panel

Hallo Friends,
Hallo VonErnsk,
Halo Mick,
at first thank you for your answers.
Please VonErnsk tell me where I can find the gauge you speak about?
Mick, I will wait for an answer from Gaucho if he will do the job.
If not I think to use your vc panel parts for an panel update, of cours if you agree.

F7F Tigercat SOH Project my 2d panel

Hallo Mick,
you gave me a good idea, I "played" with the colors brightness/contrast.
I believe that the outcome is quiet close to what it should be.
What do you think about?

GUN-SIGHT RETICULE GAUGE - 1Tiger_New_HUD_3.cab

Papi,

The gauge came with some a/c back in the time of FS2002. I have no record of either who made it or even which a/c it supported. I suspect is was some 1950,s jet called Tiger.

Sorry that's all. It provides a gun-sight reticule that can display in 3 variations, controlled by a very realistic knob or switch.

If you want the gauge I can send it to you privately by e-mail.

Hallo Gaucho,
Hallo VonErnsk,

Gaucho, I sended you a private mail with the bmp of my panel attached.
I wanted you to try to make the dashbord/instrument panel and the canopy frames in flat black
with out loosing details and shadow.
For the moment let us wait what Mick says about the last screenshot I posted here.
Vonernsk, I found the gauge in my repertoire of the other sim configuration.
in fact it does react on the G-force - interesting. But I do not know who did it.

Gaucho, thank you for your willing to help me.
For the F-1 the panel seems to be allright now.

Mick, I'm glad you like it like this.
I will see to publish the update this night.

How I spent a rainy Sunday morning

Here's another Tigercat. It's an authentic, but highly non-standard service livery and a completely authentic warbird reproduction. Both the original and the warbird were/are based at Oakland, California.

For those interested in minutia, the code is N-1, not N-I, though the two characters look the same in the Navy's style of letters and numbers.

The purpose of the green bands is unknown and photos suggest that only this plane wore them. It's probably the squadron commander's aircraft, a guess based in the individual aircraft number one. The bands are reminiscent of instrument trainer bands, but they're not. Instrument trainer bands didn't have the white border, and they didn't go around the cowlings. Anyway, no Tigerccat could be an instrument trainer because instrument trainers must have provision for a safety pilot.

Thank you Mick for all your efforts getting these historic paints published. They are looking great, needed to be done, and I appreciate the history you share with each one. :applause:

Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you like them!

What I do is nothing compared to what you do, and the rest of the team. All I'm doing is adding some markings to the stock textures.

I'm really happy that I'm finally able to make a contribution to one of your fantastic models. I love 'em all, but the F7F just happens to fit into my very circumscribed field of knowledge, so I can paint it instead of just downloading the skins that others paint.

I have more in the pipeline. I want to paint a blue F7F-3N and a black one like they flew in Korea, and an F7F-4N. And maybe a few more too.

Question for papi

Hi Papi,

Are you going to make a panel for the photo recce 'Cats, with the viewfinder in the pilot's cockpit? That would be nice to have.

The rear 'pit on 2-seat recce planes would just be a stripped-out radar operator's cockpit, since the rear seat was redundant. Recce planes were converted from both single- and two-seaters that were selected at random, and the conversions were the same. Some two-seaters even had the rear cockpit covered over with sheet metal.

Here's a photo and a drawing of the pilot's cockpit of an F7F-3P. If you want to make a recce panel and find it hard to read the text, send me a PM with your e-address and I'll send you a bigger copy of the picture.

F7F Tigercat SOH Project 2d panel

Hallo Mick,
Hallo Gaucho,
at first Gaucho,
fantastic! thank you.
Now also the dashboard (the instruments panel) needs to be in flat black as same.
as a first step if you will send me the bmp as it is would be fine as your canopy frame will also serve for the F-3.
Mick, the photo re4con cockpit would be a real challenge! What i need to know is what is the real view axis which the mirror will show.
The mirror must be a gauge which will show the wanted view - hmmmm - I' m not sur that I would be able to do that. I will keep in mind, but at first there must be done the cockpits for the F-3, the F-3N, the Tankers and a little update for Bad Kitty's cockpit.
As I work a lot of hours (about 232 hours per month) I have not a lot of time to spend on my prefered work, flightsim.
I will see what Ican do. As I see Gaucho will help me a lot, thanks to him.

F7F Tigercat SOH Project reco periscope

Hallo Mick,

Mick, I searched all this morning about a plane who would have allmost something like a periscope view.
At first I ried the Spirit of Saint Louis - deception. And so on, I found nothing what will be possible.
Also a problem will be that the mirror is situated in a lower position my 2D panel does show.
I have a little idea about what can be done, but this will be a lot of work with try and error in perspective.
But it is stored in the To Do list.

Hi Papi,

How about this? What if the view mirror was made pure black, so that it would be transparent in the sim. A patch of ground below and ahead of the plane would be visible though it.

The patch of ground visible through the mirror wouldn't be the same patch that would be visible through the real viewfinder, since the cameras weren't pinted in the exact direction - but who would care about that? We wouldn't really be taking pictures. I think it would give a pretty good impression of what a recce pilot would see - we'd look in the mirror and see a patch of ground below.

BUT - would that mirror be visible in the 2D cockpit? Maybe not, since it's down by the floor, so the whole idea wouldn't work. But maybe it would be visible... Or maybe the mirror could be added to the VC panel...???

What do you think?
