FlightSim Developers P38 Now Released

I have never in my life had this much trouble installing an aircraft, and I've bought from FSD before... Now I'm getting an error 122 message, and I'm not a happy camper. I installed the small download with basic models and two paints.. I got the error message then, but after guiding the installer to the aircraft models was able to complete that install. I tried to install the repaints, but the installer informed me it could not find the P-38 in my FSX install, and forced me to exit.. I downloaded the full installer successfully, and tried to uninstall the first install to start fresh, but it does not show up on my programs list... I tried to install over it with the full installer, and got the error 122 message.... At my wits end here, especially since I activated the software without problem... I'm running Vista 64bit, and have never had an issue like this before...... BTW: I have turned off firewall and antivirus to download and install .... no change....

Hit "Shift 1"
You will see 4 different avaitars
The first one is for the pilot-click on the green bar until it turns red and now you have a pilot!

Manual is in the FSD Folder under Programs

Oops... Sorry about that! Found the books...

Quicksand. At what time and what are your file sizes for your install? There was a point today when Tim started uploading new files for both the large and small install. If you happened to download during that time, then you may have an incomplete file.

The file size you should have is 329MB for the large (full) install and 147MB for the small install. If your file size is differant, please re-download it again. Sorry for the inconvience.

Gibbage, I downloaded the small installer and the repaint installer early, before the other problems surfaced.. but the full installer I attempted to install at last is the 329 mb file.. I just restarted my computer, and attempted to install with the same error 122 result....

Yes there will be, but I dont know when. Once we get the release all settled (Most issues were ironed out in the first few hours), we will work on getting the demo out.

Used the OLDER full installer, got the usual error message as posted by others before. Rebooted 'puter,
loaded her up nice & clean from the factory & away we went. All appears to be running correctly here.

305 KIAS, doing what I love to do, actually. Have been waiting for this beauty for a long while & am not disappointed thus far. Far from it.

Three-pointer on 1st landing with full load of fuel @ 72 KIAS. ~grin~ Should set her down a tad slower & see if she drops quick after the throttle
is cut @ proper speed, just like a real Lightning. Light variable winds with mild turbulence thrown in here.

Exquisite VC... except for one out-of-balance one down low between the legs. Other than that, looks simply incredible to me.

Getting decent performance too, as with other true FSX aircraft.
Going to climb back into that dreamy cockpit & have some more fun now...

That can TOTALLY be taken the wrong way. But im guessing your speaking of the O2 regulator? One of the few photo's I used in the cockpit, but that regulator is a photo of one used in a REAL P-38 in combat during WWII. I just had to leave a peace of real history in the cockpit.

Going to climb back into that dreamy cockpit & have some more fun now...

Thanks for the screen shots and im glad your enjoying it!

Looking good David! Mike :applause:

Thank you Tim (FSD) for the quick fix for my files!! Excellent customer service is always appreciated and remembered!!:applause::ernae:

Hadn't considered that. Wait though, lemme grab my reading glasses... Okay, it's in focus now! ~rotflmao~
Please forgive this brain-injured, disabled vet for not expressing himself in a more refined & sophisticated manner.

Yep, that be the one. No problem, man. Not bustin' yawl, just pointing it out is all, as it caught my eye
(am a visual artist). Am overall pretty well blown away with the great VC, no real concerns here.

Wholly understated, Kevin. She's amazing & satisfying so far, a joy to fly & look at. Have wanted a definitive P-38
for years now since flying David's a lot in ACOF. Looks as if there will no disappointment here in Chadron. Just a couple
of 3-bladed props with 24 cylinders of raw Allison power making one whole lotta racket in town this evening.

Hopefully not many more will have problems with her installation. Have been there with your wares once, only once,
before during the initial install of the Commander 2 shortly after release. All squared away though before long.

.Sincere congratulations, FSD/Milviz team!

Just as an update, I got the small installer to work, and I now have two gorgeous Lightnings in my sim.. Bad news is the installer for the repaints still won't do its thing for me.. We're getting there. BTW: Thank you FSD for the YF-23. It installed flawlessly, and is beautiful as well...

Error 122 means Windows will not give permission to the program to unpack files. This is often caused by either a resource issue, or from security software running in the background. As I don't know what operating system you have, or what antivirus or security software you have installed it is very difficult to say.

Best first course of action is to do a full reboot. Also, if you are running Vista 64 it can make a big difference from where you are running the installer, and where Flight Simulator is installed. And whether or not you have Windows Defender running, and your User Account Control (UAC) settings. I am just shooting in the dark here because I don't know what you have.

It is also a good idea to shut down any antivirus and security software you might have running, which can be problemmatic sometimes, because some of these programs don't shut off so easy.

I hope this helps. If you still have trouble feel free to contact me at td@fsd-international.com.
