I spent several hours this afternoon flying in campaign and the fps was mostly around 55-60 with the lows in the 40's and ocassionally going lower for briefl moments. No problems so far, except for clouds!

Sliders in the Setup in workshop: Aircraft, Effects on 5, Clouds on 4, both terrain sliders on 3 and it looks beautiful!

Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R Northbridge P45 Exp. LGA 775 ATX MOB
Intel core 2 duo E6600 2.4ghz (not over clocked)
Patriot Extreme 2gb DDR2 SDRAM
Antec Trio TP3-650w ATX12v
EVGA PCIEx GeForce 8800gts 320mb
SB Audigy 2ZS
Windows XP Pro SP3
2x WD Sata HD 3gb 16mb cache
SATA DVD/CD R/RW

(nothing is overclocked)

That's VERY high on the clouds!..bet you could knock those down a bit..and increase FPS a lot?

Okay, I'll give it a try. I've noticed that the only time I really notice any stutters is right when the enemy craft pass to the side on the initial meet and I swing my head to follow them (TrackIR). Then it smooths out again.

On a tangential (okay, totally unrelated) note, I wonder if patch 1.2 really upped the AI. I didn't see that in the list of changes. But when I first began combat a week or so ago, it wasn't really hard to shoot enemies down. Of course, I was flying the SE5a mostly (love that plane), but I did have 100 realism and veteran AI, and I would frequently fly against two enemy to practice Boelke.

But after the 1.2 patch today, I've noticed that it's a lot harder to get behind those baastids. I was flying less maneuverable planes (Pup, Nieuport 11, Spad), but the AI flew a lot better (no just flying low and away...running for home I suppose), and I kept stalling and spinning.

I'm not complaining. In fact, I like it. Now it's more of a challenge, and, I expect, much better training for campaign and MP modes. I'm curious if others have noticed similar phenomena with 1.2.

OK..here we go..my system is as follows

Duo core6400 at 3ghz , 2 gb or system ram, 8800gtx.

I run the game with the following settings..

Graphics card - 1650 x 1080 with 4xAA and 8xAF, tri optimisation is on, ansio sample optimisation is also on, Neg LOD bias is set at clamp and v-sync is enabled but open gl triple buffer is off.

Game settings are as follows

In config in overide section I have a tick in both duel pass render and the high res Z buffer { I know that it says in the setup at the main site that I should untick duel pass render but please bear with me }

in texture section of the config I have all sections set at sysmanaged and render target and full screen swap set at copy.

terrain vertex buffer set at 37621 and terrain index buffer at 65536

in game settings are

4,5,4,4,3

now the interesting bit.....FPS

over the front and over trees/aerodromes = between 48 and 54fps

anywhere else I get the full 60fps that my v-sync allows.

If anyone else wants to try these settings and feedback, would be interesting.

Ok ..managed to test in campaign mode, where the Fps dropped to 29-33 over the airfields with a flight of ten Nieuports and over 40 when we got into a furball with 7 Albatross's...still very happy with it

Great yeah 1.2 has certainly improved FPS for a lot of folks so I am pleased so far.

Thanks to 602RAF, you can change mine to yes. I tried his override and texture settings and almost doubled my FPS!
For me that means low teens over airfields, 20's in dogfights and cruising near the front, 30's on takeoff!
Twisting and turning among the trees and hills of Alsace! Incredible....until I got too low and slow...

Quite well !

...About FPS. I've managed between 20 (rarely) and 60 (most of the time). I've got a core2duo 6750@3.2Ghz and 8800GT with 512Mo. I'm satisfied with that ! I used 602RAF settings (some little changes) and 4-2-2-2-1 sliders ( I really favour good framerate). So I vote yes.
This sim is really amazing and it's exactly what i was waiting for since my first RB1. And, i've not said it before, but the team is really great. So reactive and efficient ! Congratualtions !!!!:woot:
Tacks

edit : it's v1.25 and not 1.1 My framerate improved a little between 1.1 and 1.2.

Salute All,

Here is what I am running for my OFF system:

CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0ghz Wolfdale 6mb 1333fsb 45nm with Arctic Cooler
Memory: 8gb DDR2 PC2-6400 800mhz
Mobo: ASUS P5QL Pro
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 SATA II NCQ 500gb 32mb
Opti Drive: LG 22X DVD+/RW Dual Layer SATA Rewrite
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512mb
OS: Windows XP Pro 64-bit

I have the CPU overclocked to 3.5ghz and the sim sliders currently set at 5,5,4,5,4. With my TIR4 Pro running I am pulling a solid 45fps in the heat of battle, and 70fps everywhere else.

Hope this info is helpful.

Cheers,

Lou

Get some 1066 RAM and there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to get that 8400 up to 4ghz. Just under 1.3v on mine (CPU), max specced voltage on the RAM and all the other volts up to max-blue (yellow is usually perfectly safe too). With a Zalman Flower heatsink & fan the highest temp I've seen under full load (Prime95) was 53c on one core, 47c on the other. It is a truly stonking chip and 4ghz is well within it's safe capabilities. :)
