HMS Bounty Project 17th century Harbour scenery - FS9/FSX

Blackbird686 may have something of an idea here...there is NCGent's USS North Carolina and his USS Arizona (in work)...and others I do not immediately recall...

LOL. Then we'll have ingenious folk inventing ways of adding aircraft to a ship sim.
Seriously; Milton's Bounty project has positively widened the frontiers of thought regarding what can be possible for FS.

NCGent's Naval vessels are awesome contributions towards making our seas realistic.

DaveWG, Maarten, Chris; much appreciated, mateys :)

Rum...Where's Jack Sparrow?

Ttfn

Pete

LOL. Last I heard, he's now milk delivery boy for the local dairy!

Door-to-door to the Admiralty (but the wise old Admiral and his distinguished guest keep an eye on that rascal Jack).

Orders now being taken - door-to-door, aircraft or ship...if you need a churn or 3.

Yep, this is going to be a must have. Merc Air is needing a new hide out as the old one (CFS1 scenery) near Southend was troublesome in FS9 and I'm not counting on it's working in FSX at all.

Nigel, if you need someone to test it in FSX Steam Edition, let me know. :applause:

Hi Nigel.

Any progress pictures or release info?

Cheers Chris

Hi Chris, thanks for the interest - yep, making progress.
I've had a setbeck with a fried Desk top video card, hence slow progress at present with this and other projects.

For the moment trying to push ahead with a laptop that's not really up to the job.
That's life, I'm afraid - hopefully be able to replace graphics card soon.

Hope you find the following pics of interest :)

Willy, I'd be highly honoured to have your input in FSX Steam Ed.
I'm currently working this up for both sims, so be most happy to have you aboard, Sir :)

This scenery's in North Wales, but if you find it of suitability for Merc Air, will gladly add a slipway for water/airstrip accessibility - nice grass strip maybe?

Several screenies to show how things are shaping up;

There were just too many houses etc and not enough focal points. Seems most good folk here are also partial to premises of fine refreshments - You'll find a good offering of real ales and cider at The Prince of Wales and The Black Bull, Gentlemen.

Have been experimenting with shallow water/beach ground polys with promising results IMO.

Wish I could overcome the issues I'm having with human 'cutout' figures. They show up great in FS9, but in FSX I'm banging my head against a brick wall. Have tried DXT1 and 3 - nothing doing, so if anyone has a solution for FSX, the cider's on me :)

PS: Willy; I'll PM you as soon as I have something workable for you - Thanks :)

Nigel, a grass strip would be ideal. As long as we could get the occasional DC-3 in and out.

As for the people cutouts, I'm doing good to work EZ Scenery, but maybe the guys at CalClassic would have an idea? They use a lot of them and some of the people there have been converting the FS9 retro scenery to FSX.

Still "gobsmacked"!

Just beautiful, striking, and simply mesmerizing .... great textures and modeling my friend. :applause:

You do me gracious honour, my friend - I'm truly indebted to your amazing gmax tutorials in getting this far :)

Thank YOU Sir :)

Done! A grass strip it is then :)
Dc-3? Yep, happy to oblige - reckon you could even manage to deftly put down a C-46 if we judge things right.

Will take your advice and put feelers out to the CalClassic team - great crowd of people.

Thanks :encouragement:

Absolutely stunning, Nigel! Let's meet in the Black Bull for a pint.

Cheers,
Maarten

Hi guys, I stand corrected, but did Milton once say that there was another smaller boat/ship due out as well?

Hi guys, I stand corrected, but did Milton once say that there was another smaller boat/ship due out as well?

Aw shucks! I though everyone had forgotten.

Bigger than a Jolly boat and Cutter, the Bounty work boat, the Launch... awaiting textures.

lol... No rush Milton. Sometimes, I think there are guys here that even remember things that have not been said yet. :banghead:

Of course Nigel lives in Greece and recently said his hard drive had burnt out.

Bearing in mind the money restrictions in Greece perhaps that explains the silence.

Nigel I hope things are ok.

Cheers Chris

Exchanged a rare email with him a week ago. Computer is down and out, in the shop awaiting parts. With the restrictions, not sure when it will be repaired.

Hi Milton.
Any update on the launch? The Bounty's launch that is!!

Cheers Chris

The Launch is awaiting final textures from Nigel. Not sure when he will get his new computer out of the shop.
When he does, he has a lot of things to get it up to speed and before he returns to project work.
