currently working on this project for my granddaughter...it is a big project, lighting, fireplaces, base and crown moldings, beam ceilings, window and door casework, the whole 9 yards.

working on the DC-3 finally

update - working on the fuselage still..

the nose and tail cone are glued on and faired into the fuselage. Next step is the cockpit cover.
The plan is to cut out the windows, attach the clear acetate to the inside of the window frames, then mask them, frames and windows, on the exterior. At that point the cover can be
attached to the fuselage to be faired and smoothed into the main structure. It'll take careful sanding and filling to get that part to look as if it was part of the fuselage assembly from the start, and not plopped on top, like it does now.

near final surface preparation for the aircraft has begun - several stages include layering filler on, sanding it away, and brushing sealant on and sanding it away - at least four or five repetitions - until the surfaces are
smooth and glossy. Then comes the large part assembly into the DC-3 we all know and love. The LG will be left off until after all the other steps - primer, paint, decals, clearcoat etc - are done.
Still a long way to go.

stood her up for the first time - lots of work to do now on the wing fairings and fillets

wing fairings on and the engines painted - still need to detail the radials and so many other steps yet - but the DC-3 is coming along

had to discard the kit provided prop hubs - they were just too big

here are the props I made instead of using the kit parts
