Introducing the Avia 51

Hello All:

Well Milton, if you want that spanish livery, I am game for it, should not be difficult.

On the other hand, the registration surprised me. Given how the Spanish Republic did "serialize" its aircraft, it is likely that all three units did make it to Spain, will scoure the documentation at home and see what I can get. I am however working out of home as we are speaking and I am not likely to get anything until next week end. Sorry about that.

Saludos

That would be awesome!

No hurry as I have a bunch going on right now. Mapping for textures have not started either. Still tweaking and caressing the exterior body panels before I get serious about mapping. :)

I really appreciate your efforts.

The Avia 156 Prototype Lives ...

I have the basics in place ... now to add the rest of the goodies.

EDIT: Now have the Supercharger Intake modeled so we can go kick some late '30's butt. :)

Excellent modelling and a really Art-Deco aircraft as a subject. This will most definately be ported to FsX:applause:

Milton, I think Tim "Piglet" Conrad has passed the baton so to speak to you for lesser known aircraft in FS9, looking forward to this rarity Sir ! Mike

Ha! No one can touch the "Piglet" in that regard.

My interest in these aircraft is not with its rarity, but with the high wings and round engines, and gear workings. Add to that the classic era designs and you have a winner. :)

Just completed mapping the exterior of the Avia 156 and testing for mesh issues here with the shiney coating.

Hubba Hubba! she's gorgeous! better start moving some of the stuff out of the hangar ready :icon_lol:

She most certainly is.

I think you'll have a hey day with this one on the 'alphas' Matt.

The black outlined red lettering you mentioned the other day should probably hold out for this one too.

Had some breathing problems, now fixed. :)

(icon:d doubled up and out of breathe:icon)...ho...how...how about my breathing problems, can't keep up with you Chief, are you on second stage supercharger, or is this what you call; "just warming up!" (?)

Avia 156 Mapped and Ready for the Paint Shop

Okay, I have now been able to map the exterior and interior in a fog (head cold).

She is ready for the paint shop.

I will focus on the flight model and VC for her next, but ...

Now back to the "51".

I finally got those pesky cockpit windows overhead cut in.

The Avia 156 is looking great Milton. I am suprised that only one was built. I have found very little on the 156 but did verify the Czech registration as OK-AVB.
The three Avia 51s were originaly registered as OK-ABV, OK-ABW, and OK-ABZ.

I am not certain that the 156 ever left prototype status probably due to the war and invasion. I cannot find anything definitive on a production version.

I am still in hopes of finding something on the interior and cockpit. I have dragged my feet on the cockpit design in hopes of some glimpse or hint of the interior.

Thanks for your help.

I am not certain that the 156 ever left prototype status...

My undestanding was that the prototype crashed in 1935. Perhaps the appearance of the Lockheed Orion in Swissair service eclipsed the Avia as it did a number of other aircraft.

Still seaching for anything on these birds. Because of the TX holiday, I will not make it back to the tech library until Friday at the earliest. In the meantime, I will follow up on some leads at couple of modeling sites.
