Ito San did it again: a Fokker D.XXIII available

Jeez Matt, do you ever sleep?

occasionally.... :icon_lol: normally after 3 hours sleep i'm bright eyed and bushy tailed.... i had 7hrs last night so as a result everyone is diving from cover because of my state of alertness :icon_lol:

just adding the Invasion stripes to this USAAF one :salute:

well with all these little Fokkers *Sniggers* it was inevitable the Luftwaffe got hold of one for trials.... gonna do 2 versions of this one, one with and without the Hakenkreuze on the tail :salute:

About two weeks after the German invasion a group of Germans from the RLM visited the Fokker factory with a special interest in the D.XXIII mainly because of the nose wheel landing gear and the push/pull prop setup (Maybe it's the father of the Do-335..?). Fokker was ordered to repair the D.XXIII, because it had suffered some shrapnel damage during the bombing of Schiphol, as the Germans intended to bring it to Rechlin for testing. Fokker did sent a bill to Germany but never got a response, so the D.XXIII was stored, and later scrapped (Somewhere in '42 or early '43.). Rumours that the Germans flew the D.XXIII aren't true.

Another interesting story: Bob Williams, Cessna's test pilot, commented in a Dutch newspaper in 1967 that the 337 Super Skymaster reminded him of the D.XXIII!
Typically the 337 initially had the same rear engine cooling problems as the D.XXIII had...

These look way cool...

Hi Matt, I'm a fan of your work and these look really cool, I'm looking forward to downloading these. I think your choice in paint schemes is is already about perfect. BUT, since you asked for requests, would you consider a USAAF bare metal paint?

Thank you very much....

Bill

I would think a National Air Races scheme from 1939 or so would be cool. The winner of the Bendix that year was flying a civilianized P-35; I think the Fokker D.XXIII would give it a run for its money. Fighter planes from other countries was nothing new either; after all Poland had a P.6 at the 1931 NAR.

Cees, only place i have uploaded so far is here... 2 packs, one with the Dutch 5, the other with Fictional 7... although looking at it i forgot to recolour the spinner on one of the dutch ones, will work a fix up for that... odd they haven't appeared yet...

an air racer would be good, and so would a tricolour Dutch one... will add them to my list, will continue once i wake up.... been on the go more or less 3 days solid doing various things... fun but not at the end when you feel like you've got sawdust in your throat, a blocked nose and are on your chinstraps :icon_lol:

EDIT: Uploading Both packs to Flightsim.com now

Looking at possibly uploading the VC changes I made. Is 1024x1024 the largest that FS9 allows or will it go to 2048x2048? By the time I resize the 4096x4096 textures down to 1024, well. . . .I can't vouch for how good they'll look in sim.
