MiG-21F13 released

Adjusting the trim

On your flightstick?

If my mind doesn't fail me there's mention of a different FDE file in this thread. Do a bit of digging and you might find it.

There are no functional controls on the pilots stick except for a
hand brake (odd they stop the plane with their hands instead of their
feet) anyway I did manage to make a couple adjustments to the air.cfg
file and adjusted

This didn't help the planes wanting to decend for landing. Most
planes let you slow down and extend flaps till wheels touch
the runway. BTW the flaps are full out or none at all.
And so you have to goose the throttle a bit and let the plane
decend slower then it wants to. The center of gravity on this puppy
seems to be a tad off. To wit: the take offs are not like you'd see on
most other jets. So if I knew more about how to adjust the trim
and where maybe it'll behave better on landing and such. !st few
times I decend in altitude it was a booger bear to regain altitude.

Speaking of...does the replacement AB work correctly for everyone?

It didn't for me. It always showed, regardless of engine state (on/off/throttle).
Uninstalled it for now.

It didn't work for me either. Lots of Foam but no beer, meaning
flames coming out the tailpipe but the plane sits there when you
throttle it.

Haha, I meant your actual joystick and not the thing in the VC. ;) :d

What? The new airfile?

What? The new airfile?

Bjoern,

I guess I didn't get the new air file. Maybe that will fix some flight
issues like dropping out of sky like rock and not very tight turns.
The real Mig 21 could out turn the F4 Phantom. I need to know where
I can get the air file you mentioned. Otherwise this is one hot addon.
The kid that mad this thing is only 18, he really raised the bar to the
payware people with his freeware addon.

Cheers,
:icon29:

The real Mig 21 could out turn the F4 Phantom.

Because it bled energy like crazy in turns.
The MiG is a typical interceptor. Go upwards like a dart, shoot stuff and float down again.

The flight dynamics are mentioned one page back (too lazy to read?) and avaiable here:
MiG-21 F-13 Package Update
8.01kb (3147 downloads)
I saw this Mig-21 F-13 by Ivan Jurcaga with an amazing sound set and model. The VC is okay, but not fully clickable. I've been reworking .air files and .cfg files for a few demo teams and an Abacus add on pack and decided to do this for fun. It flies much more accurately than the default flight dynamics for the aircraft and I've changed everything from the flight dynamics themselves to the rate of animation and fuel flow.

After applying this patch above, my a/c start to act with a strange behavior. :pop4:
Maybe it´s a new kind of RATO assisted Takeoff.

Thanks God, i did a backup first!

Wasn't too lazy to read, just couldn't find above mentioned fix. I too am
glad i made backup as well. The flight dynamics are much improved
however, as you can see, the thing turns into a Zippo lighter. Need
to do away with the AB flames and it would be O.K.

Aw man, you just had to show that. Now Panther's gonna want to get FSX back on his system, so he can do one better! :icon_lol:

Caz

Man, the Mig-21 I know doesn't have an afterburner like that. You can hardly see it lit on takeoff.

Oh BTW, it's a real Mig-21. ;)

Drogue Chute

I managed to start up and fly the Mig 21 with the new patch
without the uber AB flames. It's a bit more stable to fly now.
How do you cut the deployed drogue chute?
Does this Mig have some kind of sped brakes or reverse thrust?

Arrrgh... wanted to try out this baby... no textures under DX10! My rig gives me a whopping 10-20 frames more when running under DX10 and since I preferrably fly in FTX surroundings I neet those frames badly.
Is there any trick/conversion with which I can make the textures visible under DX10 or is this a material-thingy under 3dsmax?

Any help would be appreciated!

Can you say what you did to use the patch without the flames please?

I'll try to explaind. now bear in mind this worked for me so your
milage may vary... After I installed the patch I kept the old Ab fleames
exxects (.fx files) then I went into the Aircraft cft file and did a (//)
as follows:

[smokesystem]
//smoke.0 = -18.50, 0.00, 0.0, fx_engFire
//smoke.1 = -5.50, 0.00, 0.0, fx_explosionFire
//smoke.2 = -4.25, 9.40, -0.30, fx_explosionFire
//smoke.3 = -15.25, 0.40, -0.30, fx_flamingDebris
//smoke.4 = -4.25, -5.40, -0.30, fx_trailingFlame
//smoke.5 = -4.25, -9.40, -0.30, fx_trailingflame

Not sure if doing that was a coinendence or if that worked.
But finally the plane flies much much better now and it doesn't
want to fall out of the sky so easily like before. To sum up
install the patch (back up the orig file - to be safe) then in the
acft.cfg file fine the smokesystem and /// out what you see here.

Good Luck

Thanks for your help AZ1USN!!!!!
I´ll try that!

Good Luck...If I have confused you or you still have questions
feel free to Pm me or get it touch.

I am still trying to figure how to cut loose the deployed drogue
chute and if there are speed brakes on this thing. I know that
the regular brakes are on a lever on the stick that you click on
(strange the they stop with there hands and not the rudder pedals.)

What a country!!!!!:icon29:
