Not sure if anything will come of this but

Dusted off the old P-38J source I did many year ago and was able to drop on the radial engine parts. Also did an engine/prop upgrade from Devastator to Wildcat as both use a R-1830 Twin Wasp but the Wildcat has 300 more HP.

Less for sure. The Ally is 1425HP while the P&W is 1200HP but both seem to run "continuous" 1000HP. The radials should have more drag. Not even how how to calculate that. I removed the outer radiators to free up some drag but kept the inner radiators to be oil coolers.

Also toyed with the idea of putting on F4U engines but would need more than a little work.

Had a go at adapting Stuart's Lyons Maru for a "Bokusen", an IJA AA Transport from the early part of the War, complete with a deck cargo of Daihatsu's.

From Combined Fleet website...

"By the end of 1941, Allied aircraft were considered a major threat to Japanese shipping, so to provide more protection for their invasion convoys, the IJA fitted some transports with additional anti-aircraft guns. These ships were officially called Boku Kikansen (anti-aircraft ships), but were commonly known as Bokusen. Each ship was armed with Army guns, generally consisting of six IJA Type-88 75-mm AA guns and six to ten IJA Type-98 20-mm AA machine-cannons."

So not the usual pushover, flak-wise :rocket:

When I get round to packaging all these for upload, the JapMarus will come with texture options, so you can have some variety in appearance.

Back to work on the P-38R adial. Got the Navy blue into CFS2 and some work on the VC as it was missing some things.

Ludo,

Whilst reading up on the Marianas, I found references for

IJN 4.7"(120mm) fixed HAA

plus plenty of references for 25mm twins, & their smaller sister, 13.2mm twin MG ground mounts.

None of these exist in CFS 2, so I thought I'd have a go at making them.

The 120mm is based off my Flak 18 88mm model, the 25mm is based off Stuart 277's shipboard 25mm twin, with a new mounting.

As the 13mm & 25mm were both Hotchkiss designs originally, the 13mm twin is a smaller, simpler 25mm mount.

I used part of Stuart277's guntubs to make a gunpit that sits 3mtr high, then compiled separate models of the 13 & 25mm guns that sit 3mtr high, which then allows you to position them over Xaviers/Wolfis piers, giving the impression of quayside flak positions...

These looks really nice, I am in the making process of a B-29 interception mission (with more planned) and this 120mm could be of good use. Thanks again for all of your creations Uncle, they are really nice :applause:

Edit: this site was linked in several wikipedia pages of the japanese AA guns/cannons, don't know if it could be of use for you.
http://www3.plala.or.jp/takihome/artillery.htm (http://www3.plala.or.jp/takihome/ quite a lot of info about a lot of things, vehicles, tanks, boats, etc for the IJA. This one is for the IJN http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNJAP_Main.php)
