your screenies show clearly how good the original textures look with upgraded dlls and stuff from the likes of Ankor. For example one thing I was struck by was how good some of the original effects for smoke, etc look when CFS3 is run on a modern computer with a good graphics card. The game was way ahead of its time and in some ways the use of .dds textures, etc are just coming into their own.
-The scenery is payware from WOFF, and there are a couple threads here about how I adapted it for CFS3.

-The weather files on the above package aren't quite right. I've modified them again to give the look you see in my shots. Once I'm done with my current project I'll see about finishing and uploading them. For now, the Aris clouds and stock weather files are a rough approximation.
-Config settings are nothing special, but I am using the hi res settings recommended on the ground crew site.
-water is the stock MAW texture set with a very unfinished color map.
