Stearman "Duster" by Bob Sanderson

Little revision on the TFF version. Smaller Stearman emblem and added Stearman wings on the tail. Instead of lines like the yellow bird, did some tape on the wings. Looks ok to you guys or does it needs to be thinner? Every time I look at it... I could do better, or try anyways! This will probably not be the final version.

Sports model for those who solo, and a future Eckert model with same paint scheme. In the mean time, I need to finish those military birds. View attachment 71397

What a Beauty! :icon_lol:

Just shows that FS9 is still well alive and kicking, and restoration projects like this guarantee many years to come!
Well done!

Cheers, Stuart

Wow That looks classic Tufun.

The tapes look the right width to me. I see you added some stitch shadows to it too. Love the winged globe emblem on the tail and the Stearman logo.

That's one classy Stearman!

Thanks guys... finishing up on the Navy Y birds, will make some nice weekend or airshow circuit flyers! ;) Applying what I learned so far from the Classic Red.

So far four, just need to tape the wings and a little touch of polish and they be done! -TF

Great work Ted. :applause:

Awesome scenery as well ( Stewart BC if I've guessed correctly ).

Pete.

Thanks Pete, and yes Stewart, BC... Orbx scenery!

While figuring out improvements for the Stearmans... created a few logo's on the side!

This is in reference to the updated version of Sanderson's 1955 (NDE No Dust Equiped model)

If anyone would like to try this, here are some numbers to put into (only) an original default Boeing Stearman 75 450 hp 1955NDE_Vers2, Aircraft cfg. It gives some pretty realistic flight performance but with these settings you must fly with the manifold pressure set on 30-35 inches in the cockpit using your throttle. After the cfg changes go fly, set the mp, then leave the throttle alone and she will perform some realistic airshow ballet for you at this power setting using only your skills at trading altitude for airspeed.

And add that smoke from the freeware Zivko_Edge_540 if you have it. It is a dynamic thrusting smoke and looks very nice in hammerhead stalls and as well as with all manuevers.

Be sure to use a default unchanged, Boeing Stearman 75 450 hp 1955NDE_Vers2, Aircraft cfg, then change the numbers in the specified areas listed below. The highlighted double backspaced figures are dead and are the original default numbers. My updated numbers are already typed in place.

If you try it I hope you like it.

And be sure to fly it only in the 30-35 inches mp range.

This is an alias to Milton Shupe's SOH-C1A-Cargo startup smoke. You add Milton's effects line and \\ out the original 75 smoke to kill it.

This is smoke from the Zivko_Edge_540 (is nice and shows thrust in a hammerhead stall) (Try it if you have it in your FS9) Very cool on the Stearman! (The smoke came from the, 1Zivko_Edge540_FS2004.zip by Thomas W. It can be found over at Simviation).

Yes, I'm doing both aircraft (Sanderson & Eckert). ... The "203" is on hold for now... so I'm work on the two Navy Sanderson birds. I will have a total of three Yellow Navy birds, plus two grey birds. I will package a total of five repaints.
Say, TuFun. How are the other repaints coming along? :jump:

Just want you to know I haven't forgotten you.

I've been trying this and that on the test mule RG model, hoping for some improvements. Once everything looks right on this model, then will transfer to future (grey) models.

It's an odd model to paint... left wing doesn't match the right wing when duplicating the lines, and anything circle drawn has to be a certain oval shape. The tail looks good. I've changed the wing tape, to more of a flatter shape than something that looks like a piece of metal with rivets, but not to my liking yet. So, back to fixing the wings. I will keep at it! -TF

Now that's what a Stearman is all about, taking in the scenery! ;)

Found a sweet spot for the walkway, without effecting other parts of the aircraft.

Don't mess with this pilot (girlfriend)... ;) She's one mean cat!!!

There's also the super-mega-polygon Stearman that was done as a demonstrator for the mega-poly model compile method. I just can't remember who did it, nor can I find it now. If anybody's got a link, I'll add it to the Gems thread.

If only Bob or Douglas did a Stearman Kaydet with this quality! Just looking at the engine, would have preferred no cowling and a standard tail!

Trying out the blending and blurring functions, to see how that looks. Left top wing is the example.

All this talk of Stearmans made me get out Dave Eckert's nice little trainer and fly around Kansas of 1940 for a bit today.

I know... I got me trusty ol' Stearman Kaydet out of the hangar and fired her up. John Terrell did a handful of excellent repaints for the very nice Dave Eckert Stearman, for those of us who fly that one as well as Bob Sanderson's excellent model.
