That's the one! :medals: I have it, but I guess I misplaced the readme when I plopped it into my aircraft folder. Off now to put this one into the Freeware Gems thread!

With all that red on her... I couldn't help it...

Red is nice :applause:

Every time I see the Bull Stearman it looks like a Stearman has been mated with an Ag Cat :icon_lol:

Pete.

That is pure "awlsome" Tufun. That grey Steaman shot flying down the valley. The miltary paint on Eckerts. And that video. The runway must have had some puddles on it, great effect! Ha ha!

That grey or doped silver on Sandersons plane looks so darn good.

I looked through 50 Google pages of Stearman pictures last night trying to find a civillian paint scheme for a Stearman and I must say I didn't see any private civillian paint schemes that do justice to set off the Stearman design lines, other than military schemes and crop duster work schemes that are usually basic color schemes with company logos on them, or either basically doped silver for simplicity in work function and also display working wear marks, which I also love to see.

I found only one civillian paint scheme that I liked and it had a red fuselage, with cream colored wings. It had a chromed firewall pan that really set it off. The paint scheme set off the design of the plane, but that was the only civilian scheme I thought really fit the plane. I'll try to find a picture and post it.

The Stearman is just a duty/purpose plane I suppose. Of coarse that's just my oppinion and I am not a painter.

But you have done excellent on these paints and the subject of the Stearman and breathing new life into these models. Bless You!

edit:
Here is that civilian paint I thought really complimented the design of a Stearman. Nostalgic looking. If the link works.

Found another video of Sammy (17) flying aerobatic in that Stearman...

"I have an aircraft fabric covering shop at Santa Paula Airport. My husband and I rebuild and fly antique airplanes. My Stearman was purchased from a crop duster auction and my husband and I completely restored it."

Interesting story on that Stearman Tufun and has many pictures with the references you linked to.

The insignia reads: " The Old Reliable Don't Die In The House " , with a picture of a dead rat.

Very fitting for that Stearman revived from a crop duster's auction. And that young man flying the family's Stearman only 17 years old.

Here is that young "Kaydet" flying the family's Stearman.

I have an old picture of my father's old converted Stearman with me at 1 yr old sitting on the wing with a helment on, crying. That picture was taken 58 years ago. I lifted the N-number from the photo and did an N-number check and it is stil registered and flying, as a crop duster, out in the state of Oregon.

Now that I have some good pics, I will create on similar paint with lighter wings and h-stab same color. Notice no highlights on the wing sparse, so I think I will do the same thing.

Just curious, do you have any pics of your dad's stearman, enough so as I could paint one? Would be cool for you to fly an aircraft your father flew in the virtual world!

An impressive RC Stearman model, sounds real...

Wow, that is really kind of you Tufun but the two pictures I have are in black and white and it would be hard to determine what colors if any are on the plane. I've always imagined that it was mainly all in silvered dope.

The only markings on the plane were on the rudder, about an 8 inch wide band that possibly was a faded red with about 6" high white N64039 numerals within the band. The band was across the rudder with the bottom of the band aligned just above the top of the horizontal edge of the verticle stabizer. It was a very simple paint job and most likely just brought up through to the silvered dope stage basicly.

There was no flat black sun glare protection on the top forward fuselage, it was the same whatever color of the fuselage and wings.

Sanderson did an excellent job of capturing the modified Stearmans in both of his models. His 1955 model with the duster spreader looks exactly like the one in the picture of my father's Stearman, except my father's had the large four gallon sized bullet shaped spinner on it.

I wouldn't mind posting the two pictures anyway but I will have figure out to scan them and then upload them first.

You painters and model builders amaze me at what seems like ease to do the things you do. I can cut and paste!

UPDATE:

I think I'm finished with the wings, now looking to improve the tail section and later see what I can do with the cockpit. With so many different options in painting, it becomes almost an endless task!

What if I did this, or used this graphics tool... crazy! I just don't have the experience like Jankees or Matt and a bunch of others who can put these out in a flash. Especially when there is no paint kit, you pretty much have to find all the little areas by testing. Anyways, took up painting so as to paint my own personal style. I think these improvements will look good, will update the Navy TFF's and grey birds will get the same treatment! -TF
