Stearman "Duster" by Bob Sanderson

Nicely detailed aircraft with 450 hp to boot! Having a little fantasy fun.

Seems to be little interest in this bird... so, did some basic military paints (my skills are limited). Here's a few pics of a few I like.

Some color differences on a few of the Navy Stearmans.

Few items I need to fix, but here a few pics...

These two are my personal aircraft... this is the reason I wanted to learn how to paint! One of a kind paint job with personal touches!!! Not for sale! ;)

Great stuff!

I've been flying this Stearman for a couple months, but don't recognize this texture. Is it found somewhere?

BTW - the link is to the original package, so where might one find the update?

Thanks

Latest update on the Navy version, darker yellow... next some wing rib stitching and tap. Something new to learn, hope it turns out well. Once this one is done, I will added maybe three more Navy birds, seen in the photos, and then finish up on the two gray USAF versions, post here already.

While pulling back on the stick when trying to do a loop, the plane would start bucking as it kept hitting stall and back out and back in quickly.

In the Aircraft cfg, and in the section [Reference speed], I reduced the stall speed numbers to 45, and now loops are so much more pleasant.

[Reference Speeds]
flaps_up_stall_speed = 45.0 \\62.5
full_flaps_stall_speed = 45.0 \\62.5

Enough can't be said about Sanderson's visual model of the historic converted stearmans. He nailed both of them to a tee.

PS: Just a note about what I experience with FS and Windows 7. All of my planes in FS9 have lite framerate issues while aircraft lights are turned on. Once I turn out the lights the framerate issue disappears. Didn't know if any of you might be getting the same thing or hadn't heard of this.

It's interesting for you to read this at Avsim !

Getting there. Personally I would get rid of the high alpha / reflective texturing on the rudder surface.
It is after all fabric covering and not a metal surface with paint on it. But since you call them your personal aircraft it is even more totally up to you :)

So! Will you be uploading them for we Tufun? I want those yellow ones so bad! :kilroy:

I was experimenting with the alpha's, just see what's what. The rudder has no strips, only solid yellow, but using the alpha for the effect. Little strong, I agree.

Will work on that in the future. I've been busy with Classic Flyers Stearman "203. -TF

While we're doing Stearman lineups, here's the Tauranga fleet.

In the foreground Stearman 62 (ZK-USN), Stearman 43 (ZK-USA) then Stearman 03 (ZK-XAF) plus the 2 kit built P-51 Mustangs.

I've flown all three of these Stearman.

Pete.

Nice lineup... I'm partial to yellow Stearmans!

Dabbling in flight sim art...

Looking like TuFun is having too much fun on these...
Great stuff in development, looking forward to them!

Hey Pete, I'm very much interested in the 262 ZK-USN Stearman. Would like to do a paint job for the DE Stearman. Interesting set of wheels! -TF
