The Mallard is here, The Mallard is here!!

I've noticed that the texture sheets are different from the FS9 version. Is there a layered paint kit for this version?

I certain Firekitten will respond to this one but yes, totally remapped for FSX and there is a paint kit. Not sure when she will have it ready for you.

Has the fs9 version been released? Everyone seems to have it ... me stupid can't find it ...

Merry Christmas to all you lovely guys!
Sascha

Sasha, no it has not been released yet; the FS9 version is awaiting final cockpit textures. I had released a painters' version back in the Summer months so that is what you are seeing. There have been lots of updates to the package since although nothing that will affect the early paint schemes of any significance. I will get this version out once textures are ready; my apologies for the wait.

What a great addition to my collection of Grumman "water birds" ! First flight was from local lake back to the airport for fuel.:adoration:
As one without rudder pedals and toe brakes is there a config tweak to add nose wheel steering?

Replace contact point 0 with this below.
point.0= 1, 13.566, 0.000, -9.300, 1200, 0, 0.895, 45, 0.170, 2.500, 0.850, 7.000, 7.000, 0, 130.0, 145.0
the number 45 is the steering angle in degrees if you want more change to a higher number.

I would suggest no more than 30° as the steering angle. Anything more than that and I find any aircraft tends to skid rather than steer.

There is and will be a paint kit for those after it. I'm away for christmas at the moment and when I'm back, I'll sort it. It's been a manic few weeks, moving house, trying to get real life work done... so didn't have time to do final tweaks before we released the Mallard.

It is totally different to the FS9 bird, originally we planned to keep it it the same externally (inside is a totally different model)
Howevver some changes and gear updates meant we had to remap some parts, and decided to hit it all again. So its totall new.

So two Mallards in recent months! Well 4 if you include turboprops!

Advice from Tako_Kichi change this line in the cfg contact point.

Thankyou to Milton Shupe and LDR Development for a fantastic amphibian.

Thanks for everything Rachel! I understand how the things that we need to do get in the way of the things that we want to do! This bird is fantastic!

Ah so when I'm out of country, he goes and releases it :D

Merry Christmas folks! hope you enjoy her!

Regarding an earlier question from familton; Not really... I'm afraid due to this being all 3d gauges, there are no regular panel areas to add simicons to... Other than a small slim popup that always stays open as you mention, there isn't really a way we could add anything to the vc... its just not build to support that methodology of gaugework.

You and me both. LOL

I even noticed an error in the aircraftcfg file yesterday. Something I had changed weeks ago.

We will have to release the change in service pack 1.

Thanks Larry for getting it out. I will be back first will of the new year.

Thanks ! Off now to the config file.:running:

Wow!

A truly satisfying aeroplane: beautifully detailed finish, wonderful sound, amazing flight deck, a solid, go-anywhere hand-flyer. I was going to complain that you can't open the cabinets - but you CAN! A huge thank you to the whole team for this marvellous treat!

Without taking credit from Milton, this is far from a conversion.

When we took the project on, there was a fairly simple but working model, the two then went their separate ways... fs9 and fsx.

The FSX aircraft had an entirely new cockpit built from the ground up, all new landing gear and extra components and parts to the exterior, and a totally new mapping and texture work inside and out.

Milton did a heck of a job, but I do want it to be clear, that this wasn't a 'run it through 3DS Max and convert to fsx native, and pump out...

These were co developed aircraft between Milton and LDR, with Milton doing the early work before it became two separate aircraft.

(Sorry, i read a quick review on simviation and someone called it a native conversion, and it totally invalidated all the hundreds of hours that Myself, Larry, Paul, Dave and others put into this one...

(Bah humbug, do excuse me)

I have both the FS9 Beta and this one in the inventory. There is a resemblance, that is all. I appreciate all of the hard work that went in to it. Some times re-work is harder than new work.

not a bah humbug at all

I also would not want to detract from the original efforts, as I have thoroughly enjoyed painting them and flying them, but as Milton himself has said, the LDR Native model is in a class by itself and clearly not a conversion. I have started putting paint to the white texture set in your model (redoing the recent Wien Air Alaska I'd done for the upcoming FS9 version) and it is clear at this level as well that this not a conversion. Many of us no doubt have and will thank you for the level of effort you all have expended on this new native model. I am looking forward to numerous future paints myself.

Is anyone hearing what sounds like multiple audio tracks in the external view? Seems a bit over-powering. Interior sounds are excellent.

Wow! Gone for a few days, and this beauty is first in line. Thank You all for a wonderful aircraft. Looking forward to my first flight. :applause::jump:

Apologies? It will be well worth the wait as usual! I just thought it had been released is all. I'll wait as long as it takes!

Best wishes for Christmas!

Thanks. I was afraid of that. I have made a popup window, available in all views, that has all the icons and switches to open the doors and the cabinet doors. It is fully mouse clickable. I hate using the keyboard.
