Tailwind Released!

Hi Bill,

Maybe it's too cold in that box?
Tonight i took a long ride around Queensland/ Australia (SIM-emigrated to Oz, due to quality of the scenery) and opened the box after nearly 1 hour in the air with that marvelous ugly prettiness:icon_lol: when suddenly my screen freezed (also with that error screen).
So I had to turn FSX down and visited the kitchen for something to eat:kilroy:.
That will, however, not affect the fun I had with this bird. Thanks for that fine piece of art!!

Hello Bill,

my soundfiles are all there, but I realized that I can't open SND.14 with
windows media player. I saw that it is a 24bit (stereo)file and all the other ones seem to be 16 bit mono.
Could this be a problem?

just a thought, and thank you for this great aircraft :)

For some reason, it runs fine on my computer but it must not be a standard system from everyone else.

I'll run it through Audacity and have a new one up and posted for download.

Just drop that in FS/Sound/LHC folder (LHC folder) and you should once again have the mustard bearing, lettuce flapping, monty python flying sandwich sound effect, no longer in full stereo, which is proper as it was only parusing one side of the cockpit.


See? Making these things for 'every' computer is a bit difficult.. No wonder I have such a huge grey eyebrow problem... People freak when they see me in public..
 
I think it is the 24-bit part that gives problem, not so much on the stereo. My guess is that standard Windows comes only with 16-bit codecs.

To prove that, I may take your 24-bit file and convert it to 16-bit stereo later, when I get home from work!
 
Well Bill I figured out that the whole black cooler problem went away with a Fresh reinstall so something must have been messed up on my last install :S I also could have fixed it by swapping textures but I would rather keep it the way you designed it :)

Concerning the Alternator issue. I was pondering this for an hour this morning. I can only think that this is a case of 'saving systems on one plane, switching to another, and the second plane doesnt have some switches that the first had' issue.

I know that some other planes will not have an Alternator switch as well, so they would suffer the same fate as this. The little Tailwind is a super simple little hombuilt that has low tech everything. There is no Alternator switch in this plane. I am going to opt to keep it as it is. I hope you guys arent mad at me about it. Its kind of like adding windshield wiper switches and other things because another plane has it, and I dont think that would be right. I apologise if that seems cold.

The fix is so simple I really don't understand this decision, although I grant you it is your decision to make. ACES provided a separate key_event specifically for this purpose, which will toggle both the Battery and Alternator busses synchronously.

I have the cooler texture problem with the hot-rod, too. My installer was the Flight 1 wrapper downloaded from LHC site about 16 hours ago and I'm not sure if re-installation would help me. Again, gotta get home from work first...

That texture will work in the Hotrod as well. Thanks for the heads up on that.

I was playing around with a repaint.

There is an actual white one that looks amazing. Has a stripe runnind down the side, with tinted windows. Awesome little Speedster.

So I created my own. But I used dark green for the trim color.

This one has;
* Dark Green mettalic paint
* Dark Green interior
* Wild fading wind stripes down the sides that fade into 'wind'
* Dark green cloth interior, textured, with green leather seats
* Darker color of flat matt black panel
* matching wheel pants with same logo design
* Flat black bracer bars (interior framework structure, usually white)
* Chrome or polished aluminum interior control yoke and foot rudder cross bar
* Pilot sporting his racing green pollo shirt

Do you think I should brighten the base color white? In FS9 it looks perfect, but in FSX, it looks like a silver...

I'll post at my website and also here and let you know when its up and ready.

This will include both FSX and FS9 versions.
 
Definately better with a brighter base coat of white. :d

Oh...! Carpet.. Found some very lite Jade green carpet at the auto interior supply store. Installed....

Note the usually black joystick yoke is chrome now, and the overhead bracer bars are now black. To change out these colors to other colors, go to the Mechanicals texture and note the two larger top left bars that are vertical. On the left is the yoke and brakes bar, and the right (normally white) is the bracer bars texture. I did this exactly for this reason, to change out colors. For instance, you can have a red yoke instead of a black one, etc..

Another Repaint

Hey All,

Another Repaint. This one will be for paruzing Tongass Fjords. Its sort of a Piper look alike. Its a fictional little hopper that has seen tons of rain an snow, hasnt been cleaned in a long while, has cabin venturi vents cut in the cowling, as well as a oil check door, and oil filter access bottom door.

Interior is like the Retro; Wood interior trim, wood floor panel, and mountian-man type shirt on the Tailwind driver.

I havent figured out what to give it for a registry though. It seems to need a little company logo or something.
