MiG-21F13 released

One dumb question.... it the afterburner flame effect correct? From the Mig-21 we have here at KILG, there is no afterburner flame when she takes off or when he does a slow pass then climbs out with the burner on. You can see it light up inside the tailcone but no flame behind her. This is the original engine still in her too. I know that to be true as I've woked on it with the tail off. It's the real deal. ;)

I think to see the flame in real life you have to have certain ambient lighting levels for it to be visible. In full sunlight it's probably doubtfull you would ever see the full flame. I bet you'd see the AB on that Mig in dusk/dawn lighting.

There are some videos on youtube of the Mig-21 where a flame is visible and some where it's not. From the ones I did see on youtube it matches the replacement AB effect that was posted several pages back very well.

I think that FSX AB effects are a bit overdone just so you'll be able to see them in all light conditions.

Speaking of...does the replacement AB work correctly for everyone?

It didn't for me. It always showed, regardless of engine state (on/off/throttle).
Uninstalled it for now.

Bjoern, for the life of me how does one adjust the trim. I have read the panel section in the manual with no luck on where the controls are. My FSX assignment is 1 and 7 but does not seem to work. I still nose over pretty bad. Help.

The replacement AB works fine for me. I installed just as the read me file said.

I have had problems with it when changing planes (from one plane to the Mig) and not rebooting/re-launching the sim. If I shut the sim down then re-launch with the Mig-21 it's OK.

I have the trim set to the two buttons on either side of the hat switch on my Saitek joystick (l/h one for down & r/h one for up) and they work fine for me in the Mig.

Not sure where your problem may be.

Sorry Tom, I can't help.

Like G, I adjust the trim via the flightstick and it works just fine. I haven't seen anything about trimming in the manual either.

The trim works fine. If you want, adjust/increase the trim effectiveness in the config a little bit to augment the trim rate. I have experienced slight differences in trim and pitch rates from one controller to the other. This may be the case. On my X52, it is pretty responsive. Also of note, the Project "Have Doughnut" info indicates that the only trimmable surface was the Stabilator.

Just a note. To get the buttons you want to work on your stick with FSX, make sure you double click on the key command. Press your joystick button you want to match that command and you're all set. I was wondering why it wouldn't work until I found that out.

Thanks everyone, I can get the trim to work ok using the number 1 and 7 keys as set in my FSX configuration but just could not find a wheel or control in the cockpit.

G, you could be right on the AB flame at dusk or dawn. As far as I know tho, Gano has never flown it at those times.... daylight only and around 9am every Sunday or Saturday, weather permitting. I will ask him about it this Sunday.

No patience to read the manual?

And yes I read the manual just to find out how to operate the included extras …
And I'll need to write or print everything down all check lists and follow procedures although my brain and memory still in very good shape… And, like certainly most of the people who play with flight sims, just want to, exactly, play around, have a little fun…
So, yes, no patience for before engine start up check list and so on, my prerogative…I’m retired now.
Best Regards, happy landings

Call me sacreligious, but that plane looks the best with U.S. markings. I will feel better flying it now.

Sacreligious indeed! :icon_lol: No Eastern aircraft look good with the stars and bars stuck on them, in my humble opinion.

Awww. But he didn't say it looks GOOD that way - he said it looks BEST that way. You can both be right! :bump:

It just means there is one less to be shot down. Sounds like a good thing to me.

Project HAVE DOUGHNUT textures have been uploaded here.
