One dumb question.... it the afterburner flame effect correct? From the Mig-21 we have here at KILG, there is no afterburner flame when she takes off or when he does a slow pass then climbs out with the burner on. You can see it light up inside the tailcone but no flame behind her. This is the original engine still in her too. I know that to be true as I've woked on it with the tail off. It's the real deal.![]()
I think to see the flame in real life you have to have certain ambient lighting levels for it to be visible. In full sunlight it's probably doubtfull you would ever see the full flame. I bet you'd see the AB on that Mig in dusk/dawn lighting.
There are some videos on youtube of the Mig-21 where a flame is visible and some where it's not. From the ones I did see on youtube it matches the replacement AB effect that was posted several pages back very well.
I think that FSX AB effects are a bit overdone just so you'll be able to see them in all light conditions.
