What's Next??
Hi, all.
It's been over a week since the release and I've been flying the dickens out of it. There have been some minor comments about some additional skins, but nothing released or shared.
Soooo... I was wondering, what's next with Warbirdsim and the Mustang? Is anyone working on or planning to release some additional skins, tweaks, or something? :d

Beautiful pic, Torsten! I cannot say enough about how much I am enjoying these aircraft. I wish now that I had exercised enough patience to order the CD version
, because I would really like to have the extras that came with it, but I had to have my Mustang fix NOW:d... I don't think I could have waited...I have put more hours on these Ponies in a shorter time frame than any aircraft I've ever flown in FS9. For those of you still wavering on whether or not to purchase these planes, let me say this... The only way the experience of flying a Mustang could be more "real" would be if you forked over the hundreds (or thousands, maybe) of dollars it would cost to buy some stick time in one of the Mustang trainers actually flying today. I have never flown a real Mustang, but I have lived and breathed them since I was old enough to say Mustang. So far, the Warbirdsim Mustangs fly and perform as professed by all of the pilot's accounts I have read or watched.
If you get them, you will not regret it. My machine is very much "middle-of-the-road" as performance goes, and these Ponies run without any drop in frames as compared to MS stock aircraft. You don't need a super-computer to run and enjoy them. Now... GO GET 'EM!:ernae:

WH, I am eagerly awaiting the flood of repaints that I feel sure will materialize once the repaint kit is released. I am very much looking forward to seeing which new texture sets Bomber and Warbirdsim will make available as well. The level of detail on the textures that come with the planes is outstanding!

Quicksand put it well. I've been flying these things like a nut, too. Got them Friday evening, and already have 4 flight hours, with more to come this evening. It's just such a rewarding flight experience; difficult and rewarding once mastered, but not so easy that you're done learning in one hour. :ernae:

It definitely would be interesting. Thank you John for the photo of the model, it is very well done, and picks up on all of the details of the actual aircraft.
I've had this sitting on my hard drive for quite a while as well photos of several other original WWII era two-seaters...examples with two frame canopies, an example with a framed canopy and a Malcolm hood, and a couple of examples with two Malcolm hoods such as this one. (There were ten in all during WWII, all of them field mods of course - one in particular assigned to General Ike himself).
The difference between these originals and the Colling's Foundation TF version is immense. It would definitely be a much simpler project to duplicate the original WWII types, which were rather crude. Thinking through this, I had a hard enough time trying to get one Malcolm hood working properly, let alone a 100+ pieced framed canopy; I don't even want to begin to imagine what it would be like to get another working as well. :d
