How are this project and its author faring?

Hi guys, both are an on going process Daniel.

I took a break in December and January to catch up on some reading and only really got stuck in this month, completing Tilsbury docks.

I rebuilt the GC_Warehouse model as the original had some weird lod issues, also rebuilt the 'Postmill' windmill model to achieve a larger scale.

Oh those tugs...dry dock section isn't it?

Really nice work R, coming together beautifully. Interesting eclectic town both in styles and layout, and dock area looks spot on.

Cheers

Shessi

ps. nice to see and hear Joan Armourplating again, good choice.

Wow! Incredible work. What kind of performance impact does it have?
Current Cfs3 cities towns and villages reflect modern day development which is quite significant. If you take Portsmouth and Gosport for instance, the whole area was covered with autogen buildings. I have significantly reduced the amount of buildings roughly based on old maps which should improve framerates. Portsmouth is now a bit smaller than it should be, but I think it's a reasonable representation for the era. There are some oil tanks and other details that must still be added to Gosport.

The same holds true for the Tilsbury docks area, development is now more or less in line with the 1940 era. I'll probably add a placement or two to my existing large village placement. There are googlearth historical 1940 images for the Kent area which I use as a guide for towns and village positions and sizes.

I've also tried my best to make new city building models as simple as possible, keeping framerates in mind.

I have not experienced any significant performance issues with the new placements.

I thought I'd post some afternoon screenshots of recent work as well as prep work for an industrial area to be placed at Gravesend waterfront, but can be used elsewhere as well.

Finally will figure out what is missing at Hawkinge, looks like a building texture perhaps, or model.

Maybe a more apt Armatrading song for a flight sim forum.

Wowser!!These new shaders are just outstanding, the atmospherics, lighting, clouds are awesome. So far I have installed the just main package and clouds. I will install the rest tomorrow. The first pic is Dover, afternoon, the rest are morning pics so you can compare them with the pics I posted earlier. These shaders have taken the game to a new level graphically. Thanks to all involved.:jump::jump:

This really shows how good your stuff is withe the new shaders! Great! I am interested to know how much of your building stuff is modular, and could be used in other counties; I noted all so far relates to South East England??

The new lighting just adds a bit more realism to the photoreal textures, so I am glad I decided to go with this style.

Everything is modular or stand alone and can be used wherever needed. My placements are standard for England. For France I will create new buildings and I may be able to use existing textures for towns an cities. Calais and Dunkirk are definites for the not too distant future.

I'm really looking forward to these beautiful ports.
Southampton will probably be the last English port to receive attention and then the French ports. London still needs a lot of work which I've been putting off to do smaller and easier placements. I will eventually have to tackle the monster.

On a slightly different note, I read the brilliant WW1 aviation books by Arthur Gould Lee, 'Open cockpit ' and 'No parachute', and his brilliant descriptions of the cloud formations and how they made use of this tactically made me realize how much we missed this in the older sims.

Terrain detail is great, but being a flight sim, cloud development is so much more important and I am glad this has now been addressed with these beautiful new cloud options for missions. Thanks for your part in putting the new package together.

Edit: Sheerness is still to be created as well, though this is more of a shipyard.

Not getting much work done, too much fun to be had with the new shaders and clouds, that and Sudden strike 4.

Fleshing out my industrial buildings in the pit and the resultant effect at Gravesend where I have removed all autogen buildings. The stray oil tank will be removed if I don't get too comfortable with it being there, and I will move the placement closer to the river's edge, as well as add a few more buildings. Another version 2 industrial module will be placed to the left of this one and housing modules will be placed up to the airfield.

Why the last screenie....why not I say!

Where are you looking? There was another 3-bay Belfast hangar in that gap, but it was destroyed in a flying accident before the war.
It could do with a lot more trees!
