Douglas C-47 v3 Livery Thread

A couple more for the Manfred Jahn C-47. KG828 is in the 'final' Royal Canadian Air Force scheme worn by some Dakotas with 1 Air Division in Europe - light grey underside, reversed white-red-white propeller tips and the silver maple leaf roundel. C-GWYY is an ex-CAF CC-129 with only the titles and numbers (12968) painted over. A bit faded, but ready for the freight business!

Have any of our talented painters done the Catalina Flying Boats DC-3 with the latest PK? I looked- no joy. If not, would any please consider it?

Livery Request

Derby Airways purchased from the RAF in 1956 the famous ex military VIP KN628 (C/N 16643) which we know was the personal transport of Field Marshal Montgomery and it was registered G-AOGZ with the nose name of 'Darley Dale' the close up of the nose is purely to show the DA Logo but the name is from another one of the fleet and not the one in question.

It looks as if it is almost the BEA pin-stripe livery, just a colour change so I wondered if some talented repainter could knock up a 'Derby Airways' DC-3...no idea what the font for the Derby Airways is but it is certainly quite distinctive as is the nose DA Logo but I know there are some clever people on here that may be interested in doing this one...would be very grateful.

Edit: Re the above request for Derby Airways Dakota G-AOGZ, I have just located this old B&W shot of the nose of a typical Derby Airways Dak...the letters on the nose DA symbolizes the airline with the last two registration letters of the aircraft directly underneath, in this case JH but in the one in question it would naturally be GZ as in G-AOGZ. Just in case this image will help.

As a matter of fact, the real "Little Egypt" returned home to her homebase from Duxford yesterday . She was sceduled for the D-Day celebration in June. Sadly one of the engines broke during training, and she was grounded as the engine had to be replaced. But yesterday we got the great news from Dakota Norway. She landed safely at her homebase Torp/Norway.

That is great news, Gunnar! I really felt bad for the crew to be hit with such bad luck and it is good to know the new engine has allowed them to get the aircraft back home again. Thank you too for such a stunning and well-executed repaint of LN-WND!

The PH-PBA, once USAAF '42-100971' as she looked during Operation Market Garden. She was named 'The Squirrel'. This historical repaint is inspired by 75th commemoration of the Allied drops into Holland, September 1944. The chalk number '24' depicts her Waco-glider tow mission of Sept.18, 1944 into LZ 'O' at Overasselt.

Hi Gunnar,

Looking great! Was wondering which graphic settings do you use in FSX (willing to share/post you "nvidia profile inspector"?)

Regards,

Marcel

PS
The thumbnail of "Placid Lassie" is still "little_egypt"

Another variant in the works in the history of the PH-PBA.

Chalk #3, first flight in operation "Market Garden".

- Added faded D-day stripes
- Added protective covers on the door-parts, added for paradrop duties to avoid the parachute-lines to get stuck on the door-parts.
- Chalk #3 ofcourse :)
