FS9 Xtreme Evolution: beta testers wanted!

Didn't have any issues with a CTD on my machine....Looks absolutely stunning! Feels like you are flying VFR without using SAT imaging!:icon_lol:

I had not this file ...
But even with this file and your terrain.cfg ... the FS9 launch stay stuck at 52% (and as usual .. full hard disk activity and after sometime .. error message ... LOL)

Hi all,

I have placed the first tweaked files into a directory called "!!!_tweaked_files" in the dropbox.

This is a set of desaturated US desert files.

Thank you for all your comments so far!

I will now work some on my surprise and will not check the forum until evening, hopefully to post an update.

Have a beautiful Sunday!
Sascha

Funny thing, that. I didn't have the FS9_lib file, but everything seems to have loaded ok anyway...? Everything running smoothly here...

I had it in mine...I have noticed though crashing as soon as I get to SAT made scenery I made, that I had added autogen to...

Also noticed that everyone else's screens the ground is darker than mine

Hi all,

if you are experiencing CTDs try putting back your old terrain.cfg and see if the problem persits.

If you are using scenery with custom autogen a likely source of CTDs is the autogen default.xml file. Put this back, too.

Both files are not really essential right now, I just tweaked some autogen sizes, exclusion zones around roads to get more autogen shown, increased sizes of beaches and so on. I can write up what I did so people can tweak their own files if they want. One can get an amazing lot of autogen to show in FS9!

I use the minimal UT road patch from this page: http://www.scenerysolutions.com/ut_downloads_FS9.html

CAUTION: This can only be reversed by reinstalling UT! But it has a great effect!

You will need a modified autogen and terrain.cfg for my surprise. though ...

I don't know enough to get an installer to modify people's existing files, unfortunately!

Cheers and a big THANK YOU for your efforts so far! :salute::salute::salute::salute::salute:

Sascha

PS: Take the occasional look into the !!!_tweaked files directory, I won't be announcing every file I change.

Cheeers,
Sascha

It worked when I put back my original terrain file. I had not downloaded the library file but will put that in. Had no problems after that. I will try your new desert files. Everything is very nice but I think the tint is a bit too blue for my taste.

Pretty much overall. Especially around urban areas. The fields in Ohio look nice but the area around the housing looks too blue. And for example, flying out of LAX in GW3 the runway is brownish. With your textures it's bluish. If you look at the pics posted by Navtech you can see what I mean. Now, this is just my taste and others might vary.

Maybe turquoise is a better word than blue.

I think the colour is something touchy and linked to taste of each user ...
The rendition can be also different for each user as it's also linked to the settings of the video card .. monitor colour ... etc ..
Note also that I use for some of my posted pics .. a EBN setting ..
In a word .. it must be possible to the users to set the colour they want by fine tuning of their video card colour (a special profile) or EBN .. if this is really needed
IMHO

Indeed, I use enb to tweak colour saturation. FS9 displays textures very differently from PS which I use to edit.

Screenshots by testers vary wildly with some looking like mine and others being very green (which I get without bloom) and in your case bluish. It will depend on monitor, graphics setup and tweak utilities that each user is running.

Runways however I just changed before release for a more bluish-metalled look. Basically only a couple of runway are used everywhere. FS9 has at least 10 which I modified but I have only seen half in the sim.

I will upload my previous set (I have lots, just did not want the initial release to get too complicated) , that will give you brownish runways. Look in the !!!_tweaked_files folder in half an hour.

Edit: Already uploaded.

Cheers,
Sascha

I agree. It's all personal taste.

I don't know anything about EBN and don't want to adjust my video card tint settings. This is a beta test and I should be reporting my impressions. But as I said, others may vary.

I'm going to look lt this ENB thing and see what I can figure out. Keep in mind the runway in LAX in GW3 is dirt.

GW3 is Golden Wings 3? I am not familiar with that, so I can't say which runway texture is used. Can you do a screenshot? I might be able to identify it.

There are probably a number of older files which don't appear in my setup so that I lost track of them.

I have an idea though - go to the FS9\texture folder and remove runway15.bmp. Is the runway in LAX gone?

I'm off to grab some dinner, will check in again in an hour or so.

Cheers,
Sascha

Looks like I replaced that with a grass texture i.e. runway10, runway13 or runway20.

Can you find out if that is correct by removing all three from the FS\texture folder?

Thanks!
Sascha

It has to be something that also affects urban areas also. That's where it mostly is. Look at the pic over LA and the urban area in Ohio. Same color.
