FS9 Xtreme Evolution: beta testers wanted!

Autogen is also tweaked, some unwanted artefacts removed. Very dense now without lights. I will look into making a UT style switcher, but control is always possible with the autogen slider.

Improved autogen:

Tried an install on stock FS9 which I believe I did correctly but got repeated CTDT at 56%. I'll be rechecking things but so far no joy. Does 3rd party mesh interfere? I wouldn't think so.

Hi,

try replacing your original terrain.cfg file into the FS9 root directory, that resolved most crashes.

Some older scenery also causes crashes, I am still looking into that. If CTD persists after dropping in your old terain.cfg try deactivating some airports. Crashes occured with some VOZ scenery and some old Aerosoft scenery.

Cheers and thanks!
Sascha

Just noticed crashes only during the day with FreeFlow Florida...at night time I can go to Florida, but during the day....boom crash at 0% loaded...Going to test if it is just during summer.

Hmm, I remember back in the day when there was this FS Road addon by R. Taburet I had the same problem, daytime crashes only. Jon found some specific bgls in VOZ scenery which cause a crash so I'll be looking into those files and see if I can find any conflict.

Thanks and best,
Sascha

I just tossed the thing in the bin and will reinstall a fresh copy. So one question is, to find a problem can your files be installed piecemeal and fired up until a crash happens? I assume there are some dependencies or file groups that must go together as well. Otherwise I'll try the original terrain idea.

Restoring your terain cfg first is a good idea, this was a source of CTDs. In most cases crashes were resolved after putting back the original terrain.cfg because custom autogen entries for addon sceneries were needed.

Try replacing your autogen default.xml too, although missing entries should just mean that the object doesn't turn up.

If an addon bgl.files calls up textures, there is not much I can do except look at bgl files if you find the specific bgls causing the crash.

Jon _aus has identified a couple of bgls and I will try to open these with a bgl editor. Mybe I can pin down the file:icon34: causing the problem from those examples.

Since I have only changed default textures it might be a formatting error in a single texture. But there are too many files to try to go after them by separate installs.

If you are starting with a clean install, just add the textures to go in the scenery/workd/texture directory. Don't add any of the additional or tweaked files, because one of the modded runways or taxiways might be the problem.

Cheers,
Sascha

I have a feeling the reason for the daytime crash maybe due to a file format error in one of the textures....not 100% sure though.

Yes, that is very likely. I'm hoping to find the file in the BGL files Jon_Aus identified:

"I've also solved the VOZ issue. For some reason a conflict at an airport in Australia named YIFL. Removed a few files named Innisfail_3, _5 and _9 from the VOZ Scenery folder and no more CTD's.

And have also solved the Bella Coola - CYBD CTD. Removing the file s_Bella_Coola_30m_5 also fixed the CTD there. So all is good so far."

That is a very good starting point.

Cheers,
Sascha

This to me almost confirms it....different file names maybe calling the same offending textures up...

Totally surprised!

I am totally blown away - I have just found out the most amazing thing by coincidence!

I used to have my NVIDIA settings on PC 1920 x 1080 PC Native at 60 Hz.

I just switched that to Ultra-HD 1920 x 1080 at 50 Hz ...

... and suddenly I can see fine detail even from far away. I've never had such a crystal clear image. No loss of frames!

Look at this screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vfficf11ltvn8es/Amazing.jpg

Now my brother who has IT college training has said that simply put the graphic card has 20% less workload at the lower Hertz setting. I always assumed that a higher and native setting would be better, but boy was I wrong!

Regards,
Sascha

There is a conflict there and after removing the bgl file mentioned above by Sascha for Bella Coola, I had no problem. The river and roads and autogen buildings will still show which is good. Not sure what is missing, but still looks ok.

Using the default terrain seems to have fixed the CTD issue. Below is what I got after installing the basics, that's Las Vegas. My machine has never been able to render HiRes textures which always have a lavender or greenish cast and poor detail. Cities are this bright green for grass, rural textures look pretty normal and I've not noticed any change in autogen. I presume I've mucked up the install somewhere, any ideas? I'm reviewing settings and will probably try this all over again.

Hi, my advice is to wait until I release for the beta 2.0 version, this will hopefully be ready tomorrow. I fixed a lot of issues and wil put all the new files into one folder with subfolders for ease of installation.

Thanks for testing!

What are the specifications of your computer?

Best wishes,
Sascha
