Hawker Sea Hawk P3D FSX 10_16

As already said in a previous post, some information for those who want to make repaints depicting Dutch Sea Hawk.

The Dutch Navy used the Sea Hawk from 1957 until 1964. They were purchased to be used from the Dutch carrier Karel Doorman and used by 2 squadrons. These squadron rotated between the carrier (D on the tail) and NAS Valkenburg (V on the tail).
Until mid 1959 a registration system was used which consisted of a number indicating which type of aircraft it was and an individual aircraft number. The number 6 indicated that the aircraft was a fighter. The aircraft numbers ran from 50 until 71. In the new registration system the aircraft didn't have the 6 number anymore, and the aircraft were renumbered from 111 until 131. To distinct the difference between the squadrons, No 3 squadron used white on the nose cones and the cone in the tail and 860 squadron used orange (AND NOT RED) for these markings. Droptanks often had this marking as well.

An other difference between the early and late scheme is the position of the roundels on the wings. In the earlyscheme they were close to the tip of the wing in the later scheme they were moved a bit more to the middle.

The red warning triangle to indicate the hazard aread around the air intake was introduced after 1959. There are many pictures available of the Dutch Seahawks in old and new scheme without this triagle.

As far as I have been able to see, all aircraft had their squadron logo on the fuselage, just behind the cockpit. This is valid for both schemes and both squadrons.

More information about the schemes can be found here: http://kw.jonkerweb.net/index.php?o...d=56&lang=nl&Itemid=494&showall=&limitstart=4

I forgot to thank Rob Richardson for this great model. A definitely nice flyer and great looking and simple enough to fly for me :encouragement: (I hate it when I have to study two days before I'm able just to start the engine.....)

Thanks JensOle for your work on the Karel Doorman and the great looking scheme (Only change the red accents for orange, in the newer scheme the numbers under the wings were black and remember what I said about the position of the roundels......... :biggrin-new:)

And thank you Cees and Zsolt for the nice looking schemes.

Cheers,
Huub

Zolt Textures on Megafileupload

I am having a horrible problem trying to download Zolt's beautiful Sea Hawk textures. My Norton Antivirus puts up a totally red desktop screen with a warning not to use Megafile as they have many reports of attempts to acquire personal computer data during downloads. Because of this extreme warning, I am unwilling to try to use that site.

Zsolt: Would you PLEASE consider also uploading your beautiful textures either here or Avsim or Fltsim?

Best to you all,

Bill

Great paints Dave and Cees!

Have any of you done the Ark Royal scheme where the number is painted on top of the RN/serial (with red tail and large O)? I have forgot the sqn, but have seen it in a ark royal book I have.

Cheers JO:encouragement:

I've not done anything for Ark. Not sure if Peter has anything lined up??

Thanks guys !!

I've withdrawn all three repaints I posted here. There are some things in all three repaints that need correction. I'll repost these as regular downloads.

Cees

Edit: this is much quicker!
