Does it work for FSX?
Yes, you may have to re-tweak things, but when you hit the 'sweet spot' it's like it's not even there.
Best clouds ever for me.

Gotta agree with the consensus...these clouds are really the dogs danglies.
 
since I have downloaded the HD Clouds my FS9 Usage increases :)

I tried them on my old anemic system and couldn't stand the slide show. I went back to my old clouds. If you've got enough comp to run, that's great. I don't.
 
Another 2c worth:
I'm a Flight Environment user, so I would not trade my textures.
But I dropped these onto an older P4 I have, and am mightily impressed.
If I wanted a freeware upgrade to a stock install, I couldn't think of anyhting better.
I lost maybe 3fps.
Only drawback is everybody's screenshots are going to start looking the same! :kilroy:
 
Willy - as far as I know, most of the stock cloud textures are 512x512 32-bit. Try that set and see what happens.
 
I tried the 512x512 32 bit format...and had virtually no impact on my frame rate from what I had been using. Visually the clouds are stunning.

I know, I've received hardly any hit at all, using the highest quality DXT3 versions. Very nice and fluid with clouds turned up almost 100% and full coverage! :bump:
 
I couldn't tell much difference in frames from the 512 DXT3 ones and the 256 DXT ones. Clouds have always given my system fits. I went back to the Bill Lyons Silver Wings ones.

I'm saving the zip file though as I'm hoping to get a new comp one of these days.
 
Installed these clouds a few days ago to my GW3. Decided on using the 512 32bit cumulus texture without the sky textures. Seems to work and look good on my system as long as I dont get to close to them.
 
I darn near ruined my keyboard during a flight last night. I installed a bgl for the Bonneville salt flats, so took off from Salt Lake City, heading west, in one of Lionheart's Fairchild F24s, in Golden Wings, with the HDE Clouds and Rhumbafloppy's world mesh. My screen was filled with eye popping detail and quality. Rhumba's mesh had the mountains between SLC and the salt flats looking absolutely incredible. The Golden Wings scenery and auto gen had the sim world looking as pretty as a post card. The HDE clouds and replacement sky colors were like that cocanut and pecan icing on top of a German Chocolate cake....the best in the world! I was drooling like Homer Simpson during a tour of Duff's beer!
