Milton's Howard 500 a fresh look!

Plus it won't make a big difference in FS 2004, as it will only allow 1024 x 1024 texture files ...

:toilet:

All of those screenies are FS X. ;)

If you had bothered to look through all pages of this thread you might have seen some screenies from FS9 as well. Yes there will be some loss of detail when going back from 2048 to 1024.
Having done plenty of paints myself I can honestly say I have never seen one as great as this one.
Remember that this is someone's freely submitted pride you are lambasting here without a whiff of evidence or your own submissions to compare.

Nobody has ever been forced to download anything....if you don't think it will live up to your oh so high standards bugger off and leave the rest of us to enjoy TuFuns magnificent masterpiece.

My credit card is ready!!! :running:

Wow! Thanks for even offering, but it's freeware... Milton's Howard 500 is freeware.

Hmm... time to get FSX! The silver Howard is FS9 model thru and thru and painted in 1024/32 bit textures.

That kind of detail in FS9 is possible. I've seen it. But not everyone can pull it off.

Yep, it's all in the paint job... same FS9 model with Milton's upgrades! ;)

Willy,

I beleive you are thinking of multi-polygon modelling, rather than repainting.
As a painter you need to put up with what you have, and this is the most exquisite job I've ever seen! :salute:
Yes, there will be a quality loss in FS9, but this will still be by far the best remake of the year!
If you don't like it 'Kolbenfresser' , well just give it a miss! Your animation says it all!

Stuart

Quality loss... no one told me that!!! I will have to fix that! Back to the drawing board and make a less detailed version.:icon_lol: Seriously, there is some quality loss, but looking at the pics you can't tell.

Thanks Stefan, no big deal, my work will speak for it's self! View attachment 83616

A stunning model TF. The work that went into this project is acknowledged, honored and noticed. Your contribution of your energy and skill are greatly appreciated. Thank you sir. :salute:

I know, but I am getting tired of folks talking down about other members work. Regardless of their own contributions but even more so if I can't easily find a large body of work that would at least give them some resemblance of gravitas in the matter at hand.
Constructive input I believe is appreciated by most people. But useless posts like the one I referenced serve no purpose and are what stops some people from even sharing their work.

I made a RAF repaint on request for one member here a while back based on the Argosy....and some guy blasted it because the model used (the only one we have for FS9) was not the correct one compared to the real aircraft.

Cheers
Stefan

Rivet counters are not well tolerated here. I've always been a firm believer in if you're going to talk trash about someone else's work, then be ready to prove you can do a better job.

Well, my repaint is representative not actual. Best I could do looking at pictures. If you look at the Howard model compared to the real aircraft, you could fit a R-4360 Wasp under that cowling. ;)
No matter, it's the only Howard model and I like it... a bunch!!! This is still a FS2004 model, no FSX converted one.

Hey Willy, your going to have fun flying the Silver Howard on your flights! That is the basic aircraft that everyone can paint. It will be similar to the original paintkit design. When starting this project I didn't think about painkits, and I basically didn't save it that way. It won't be difficult, cause I painted the TP Howard using the Silver Howard textures. Painted the green/white/yellow/red over the silver with rivets and all detail in the skin.

Comparsion...

All photos taken in FSX. Hope that's not a problem with anyone. No FS9 to test with. -TuFun

So there you have it... FS9 1024 version a little softer in some areas, overall looks good.

That is some pretty good technique you have TF. Adds amazing depth to the aircraft's textures. You have a keen eye for detail. Thanks for sharing your progress pictures. Keep at it, I know you are enjoying what you do and that is important.

That recent under-wing shot of the wheel, I couldn't help noticing past it into the background at the edge of the tarmac, that excellent, excellent wild brush. Wow! Now that is some nice bushes. I would love to see that kind of bushery spread throughout the FS9. It is absolutely lovely. They look so very real.

TUFUN'S ICONIC WORK

Take an example of Milton's modelling skills, let someone with an extremely well developed artistic sense coupled to a rapidly growing technical expertise in graphics, work on it for some months with a dedication and concentration that is both inspiring and humbling. The results are truly iconic.

TuFun, I am sure that you have the respect and admiration of all those who have watched the gestation of this master-piece on Milton's classic. A personal thanks for your dedication and expertise and also Milton who provided the inspiration with his great model.

PS: Remember guys - 'Everything comes to he who waits'.

Sadly we can't legislate against stupidity, but we do dislike rivet counters intensely.
:173go1:

I tried to count rivets once.

It was a B-17 from the Confederate Airforce.

I ran out of numbers in about five minutes.

If anybody now asks," how many rivets in a Boeing B-17? "

I say," All of them."
