Milton's Howard 500 a fresh look!

There's no mention by me when this project will be done. Be assured its not September nor 2014. I do this as a fun hobby for my personal aircraft fleet. I do multiple projects at one time so I don't get bored doing the same aircraft. I constantly do improvements on these projects, because I've learn something new and think it would make the model look better. The Howard project is my personal best effort thus far, and I'm really proud how it has turn out. I've made a lot of mistakes on this aircraft and every new picture I find, sets me on a goal to make changes to bring the Howard closer to the real deal. There's times I don't have a clue as how I'm going to do stuff in painting or effects, but I try it over an over until I think it looks right. I did not plan on doing TP, but the paint scheme intrigued me, and can I do justice in painting such a scheme. I'm a bare metal guy, but can't have a Howard without that paint job... right! Once it's complete, I will send it to Milton for evaluation. By the way this is an FS9 model that plays well in FSX, the same one seen in my videos. -TuFun

Applied prop decals... found some really nice ones.

My beat-up TFF C-130 surplus ex-military aircraft for those parts runs... I'm always experimenting with metal!

And the old FS9 Alpha B-58 Hustler... museum piece at the moment!

Hi TuFun,

Take your time!

As you said, this is a hobby, - not a profession!
I find it quite rude that certain people want to dictate the pace of your progress!
It is a great project to be following, seeing your mistakes, your bounce backs, and your advances.
You are quite new to the paint shed, just like me, (Stearman was great), and want the best result.
This can only be done through trial and error, and takes time.
The big difference is that I don't have the courage to publish any work until 100% satisfied. I'm a chicken! (Same for sounds).
Overall I find it very educational to observe the advancing tweaks on the 500. Especially on the metal work, and hope you carry on.
She does look fantastic already, and I have learnt a lot just by following this thread.

Hats off to you TuFun,

Regards, Stuart

Thanks Stuart. Those Stearmans were fun projects and the Air Mail Stearman was a special treat. Had to create those letters on the fuse as seen in the movie. One thing I'm looking at is light refraction in polished metal. Those swirling micro scratches you see from buffing out aluminum. Also, working on a new effects at max power setting. Well, anyways... back to revamping the TP's interior! -TuFun

Improved the startup effects, now with smoke on both sides of the nacelles. This will add a little more smoke and cut down on the blue color. Discovered this will creating startup effects for the "Bad Duck".

Also, a short video of the startup effects and a walk thru of the enhanced stock interior. Needs to be a lot darker, but I do like the light effects!

Wow! Seriously, well done. I didn't think I could like this plane more than I already do, but you're definitely changing that perspective. :)

Man oh man I do love what you do with the 500. The subtle reflection of the checkerboard cowls in the nose is over the top gorgeous. Did not think this could ever look right, but I stand corrected.
I have seen other attempts and even tried this trick once before myself and did not like it. Very well done.

Cheers
Stefan

Looks fab. Lighting fits the period! Cockpit looking very tidy. I think I changed the pilot/co pilot seat sheepskin texture on one of my versions to something different. To my eye the pattern now looks a little too big/low res, compared with all the other refinements.

Uh-oh, it's been silent here for over a week and most of the images and all of the videos have been removed. :icon_eek: :ques:
