Mustangs are go!

Paul, that method I PM'd you requires 30" MP and +6.0 trim and a pretty flat approach. But smooth like butta'! Been shooting T/Go's :d

:bs: <---------thats new :costumes:

Over time, I have gotten so good at landing this plane, that I 3-point it on every time, though through testing it over the last year, I have about 32 hours on it total. I generally find that I can leave the throttle at anywhere between 26-in and 28-in through the base turn and final (26-in is the minimum amount to carry for a prolonged amount of time). It helps if you come in at a rather steeper angle of attack, so that you carry about 120-130 mph through final. As you start to come within a few feet of the runway, and start to flare, then you begin to pull the power back smoothly, and I typically touch down at about 85 mph. If I want to keep the tail up, and just touch down on the mains, I will keep the aircraft's speed up by more gradually pulling the power off, a bit later on, and pushing the stick forward to hold the nose down.

I got a laugh earlier this year, when a noted Spitfire pilot reported on taking a ride in a Mustang. I don't know the reason behind it, but for some reason the pilot of the Mustang landed it while still going about 145-150 mph over the fence, touching down just a bit slower, which of course is crazy, but interesting that such a practice exists, at least in a limited supply (it could have been his only time doing it). At that speed, it would be impossible to keep the tail on the ground. The Spitfire pilot was especially shocked, as he lands the Spitfire at half that speed. :)

I've already become quite good at 3-pointing it pretty consistently. It's a fun challenge, but more than achievable.

I find that keeping it at around 120-130 on approach is nice, and bleed speed off until touchdown at 80 or 90. :ernae:

A good tip:

If you have the WOP Bomber pack, You can import the autopilot from the b-24 with no prob. PM me for the info.

Thanks John. This "wheel landing" approach works pretty well. Still working on the three-pointers, though!

FSX Applicability

I ported over Princess Elizabeth & Ina The Macon Belle, and works very well in my FSX SP1 version without any issues noted...

Three pointers are easy. Find the stall speed. Hold her just above that and the deck, pull the nose up/flare and get a three tire squeak every time!:d

Well it looks at least you will have a wonderful selection of fighters to fly. I sure hope we see something soon about the reapint policy and kit.

Folks!

Our initial plans to release our own texture sets seems to have very much gone against the grain!
While this may well happen at some stage...

We will be releasing a Paint Kit!

What we would like to do is allow the paints to uploaded to this site, Flightsim.com, Warbirdsim and a few others.

For those who can use the factory example, then that is a great place to start.

We were worried about piracy, and the passing around of this product.
Please help us make sure this does not happen.

More details this week.

If this repaints were only for my personal use, I wouldn't post screenshots. ;)
I plan to share them with the SOH community as soon as it'll be possible.

Best regards,

Stephan

Good to hear, Stephan. I hope the paint kit release is sooner rather than later as I plan to fly a lot over the Thanksgiving holiday. :ernae:

Sorry for the silence, my head has been buried quite deep in gmax and school work these last several weeks (learning Flash and Dreamweaver at the same time is definitely taking up a lot of time). :d

Right now I can't say when the paintkit will become available, though I hope sooner rather than later. The last hurdles standing in the way of completing the FSX versions has been passed, and now the models and textures are being fine-tuned for release. The website will likely be updated with screenshots of the FSX examples within the next couple of weeks I'm sure.

Will those of us that have purchased from you be required to repurchase the FSX version as well, or will this be a nice Christmas present for us???

Current status is "yes" you'll have to re-purchase for FSX

(Which is why I haven't bought the FS2004 version) :kilroy:
