The Grizz is out!!

WOW,what a beauty! And to think I nearly missed this thread!!! Cant wait for it to download, and then I can get the kids to bed & really blast it!
Thanks guys, for such an awesome plane!

Thanks for a fine aircraft Milton.

For those that are interested I tested it as an AI and it worked perfectly.

Terry

Terry, it probably works fine to have one or two in view but the aircraft is heavy in parts (1100) and textures. As such, I would recommend keeping it to a minimum on a location. I am happy to hear it works perfectly for you. :wiggle:

I've got aqiuck question, is the cockpit supposed to have some empty spaces.:icon_lol:

I can't seem to upload a picture of prove, It's on the lower right console, right above the starter switches.

And yes I know everyones is like that, I'm just curious.

put the ford trimotor cab from the panel of the trimotor
into the main gauge folder
you are talking about this

Thank you guys!

How can I manage to get the adequate xyz-parameters to locate the effects? I guess it's the engine and contact points position to relate to, but where do these effects have to start exactly?

Guesswork and try-and-error?
Any estimated values?

Thanks in advance,

Markus.

Hey Wild Bill,

Download Nick's "All Wet". It contains Nick's Prop Dust plus an enhanced water effects file. There are very specific directions on what coordinates to use based on the engine configurations and type of aircraft. I have spent a lot of time configuring many of my add-ons. Let me know if there is anything specific you are looking for and I will see if I have it done and post up the specs. We may want to start a new thread so we don't pirate this one :monkies:

LouP :bump:

Thank you Henry for your help on the ammeters. :ernae: That will be corrected in the maintenance release along with a few other gauge and radio anomalies.

LouP, I appreciate your help on the question.

We will have another variant with a little different look, just because we can. ;) And because we like chrome.

This will come likely with the maintenance release as well.

BTW, there is also a CFS2 version that is being looked at by two CFS2 contributors, and the gmax source is available for the CFS3 guys as well.

What a fantastic model, thank you for releasing it as free ware! I mean, how could any one not love a steroidial Model 18 with a 75mm gun and 3350's. I just moved the Anagrand 1/72 resin kit over to the paint booth, and was noodling a dark sea blue OLYMPIC/CORRONET naval scheme.(P1B? PB?) Hmmm. Post war naval reserve, lots 'o bright orange striping. Any way, she flies like a champion, works great in FSX SP2, just rename the JPG's to 'thumbnail' and drop into the appropriate texture file. Prop blur texture's do not show( a Vista thing), so i've been digging through the library and trying out alternatives, as well as aliasing the naval textures to the other (armed) models, for alternate load outs. Saved flight, combined with rockets from D.G's Beaufighter(A must have), the torpedo from Flying Stations Wyvern ( if you don't have it, get it!), and flak effects, I was up till 4:30 this morning busting shipping all over the South Pacific. More fun than puppies! Thank you Uncle Milton and crew. May you never blow a jug.
3/7charlie, Tanker tramp and life long Radial stoker, CYXX.

Hi Milton and Team,

just did a quick test flight with the Beasty now that the L-1049G is on the way to ramp I had a few free minutes to fly something other than a Lockheed....and a Shupe Beech is of course a most welcome change of "mode of transportation".

Aside from the already mentioned and worked on Radio issues she is once again a Masterpiece indeed.

Thank you all again for bringing her to us...and at the best possible price:ernae::ernae:

I did have a couple questions:

1. In the readme it points to the docs and ref sheets but I don't see them in the civil or the military versions....did I mess something up or did they not make the release deadline ??

For essential flying tips consult the reference and checklist sections of the kneeboard (F10). The checklist (xa-38_check.htm) and reference sheet spec (xa-38_ref.htm) files are located in your local xa-38folder.

2. This may be answered in the "missing" reference documentation. The engine MAP and prop RPM gauge color markings seem to be quite low for the R-3350s especially the 2300 RPM redline on the props.
Are those correct as they are ???
Engine Redline MAP on the Turbo Compound DA3 on the Connies was 59"....which I know is quite a different development of the engine.

Just wondering out loud :wiggle:

Stefan

Edit: After a bit more looking around in the VC I came across the limitation placard and it shows 48" MAP and 2600 RPM with a redline speed of 3800 rpm.
So I'll maybe do a little gauge face plate editing.

I'd certainly blow the dust off my CFS2 disks, just to see that Big Thing Shoot!

Milton, your screenshots show a feathered engine.
If I recall your D18S could stop an engine in flight.
(Video evidence at flightsim.com: d18vid.zip)
How does one do it with this model?
(I cheated in my page 1 shots in this thread, by stopping an engine on the ground, then slewing up and flying on.)

Hey Stefan :)

Great looking work on the new release. Manfred must be needing a holiday by now.

The 2300 RPM redline is normal ops. The 2600 is takeoff with ADI and time limited to 6-7 minutes depending on water. The 3800 is the prop manufacturer's prop blade limitation over which, disintegration occurs, applicable in a dive.

I will try to have the refs available in the maintenance release.

BTW, anyone wanting a copy of the scan I did of a 11-page 1978 magazine review of the real world Beechcraft A28/ XA-38 Grizzly, you will love the details in this article.

I pull all the levers back for that engine and click the feather button on the left panel.

Remarkable aircraft and extremely well modelled! Thanks uncle Milton, highly appreciated.

Thanks Milton...I think Manfred will indeed need another retreat once the L-1049s are out of the hangar...especially with the likes of me on the team :wiggle:

And thanks for the explanation on the rpm limitations...I guess we'll keep her at 2200 in normal cruise just like the Connie. But she sounds bloody amazing at 45"/2500.

Very nice plane. I too had problems with the radios - COM2 now works with the tower for some reason not COM1 (can't think why at the moment - it's late!) but I cannot tune the NAV frequencies at all. Any ideas?

Many thanks Milton and Co. for this incredible airplane and for raising not just the bar, but the freeware bar once again!!!

:icon29:

See posts 42 and 58 in this thread. That will get you to the point where you can manually tune or autotune. We will correct that radio in the maintenance release.

Thanks
