Tigermoth re-work

I've got it installed now and it's a very nice and tidy job, looks very good! My only suggestions for improvement on the model would be to close up the holes around the sides and floor of the cockpits (visible inside and out) and add a specular map. Also, the download appears to be missing "acc_tigermoth_c.dds". This is going to be such a fun aircraft to fly around just for flying's sake, well done!

I've been tidying up the cockpits and other odds and ends. Capt Winters is improving the textures for me, top man that he is. :) so all should be finished in the next few weeks.

If anyone has any improvements to the fm etc that they feel should be added please send them my way, I'm a bit lost in that area.

Cheers,

Clive

looks good Lewis, can you send me the textures please and point out the parts that you're having trouble with?

Clive I forwarded those textues, would be nice if there were a specular file! Where would this trainer likely have been stationed during the war? I think I will place a couple on a base just for accuracy. Maybe Owen can gin up a training mission where a training session gets interupted by the Jerries! That would be an interesting escape mission.

If you have a hex editor you can give the skin some shine even without having a specular texture. The values you want to change are at addresses 9FC, 9FD, 9FE, A03 and A20, A21, A22, A27. I have mine at 20, 20, 20, 42 for a light sheen on the fabric with SpecularEnable turned on in the Shader file for Win 7.

Not a problem here..
I think I can come up with some of missions that can be exciting to fly for this ..
Let me know where to start from a proper airbase in ETO/ MAW that we can use for the start..
And I will do a few for this..
I like flying Her, Need a proper purple and pink polka dotted skin of course..:icon_lol:

Off to hide! On goes the Ring! :pop4:

I don't really know but since this was a pilot trainer I'm guessing this would have occupided bases in and around London. Will wait for Clive's expertise. A cool mission would be one where the Tigermoth is unexpectedly jumped by jerries. It might be real difficult to escape but it would be fun to try. Since Clive put no guns on this I'm guessing it never had any so escape would be the only option in a conflict.

I'm pretty sure you could find a tiger moth nearly anywhere as they were often used as Squadron hacks etc. The only time I heard of one carrying any kind of armament was a plan (never carried out) to have them drop small bombs on German bomber formations during the Battle of Britain in the event that they ran out of Hurricanes and Spits.

My father's squadron put in for one, ostensibly for training and as a hack; actually, on arrival it got pushed to the back of a hangar where it lurked for the rest of the war, and the petrol ration ended up in the squadron's cars... Which had been the object of the exercise all along.

A escape mission can be Fun in CFS3 game engine all one has to do is Fly VERY LOW, Ai attacking aircraft can not go below a set height (CFS3 Game engine)..
You just have to keep turning and become a ground hog..
I have used this many times to escape AI enemies..

As for the Tigermoth, a rescue, and escape, maybe a training mission (flight) with nasty bad guys popping up
something similar to the Lysander missions

Question for our History Masters Please
any remarkable missions from this bird on record perhaps for a historical stand point?
I found this so far.. These were used in France 1940 Battle of France and these were also sent to Burma, so we have several possibilities..
May make a mission for Rising Sun in Burma now for the set I have started for Rising Sun..Oh yea..

Have got them thanks Lewis, will look into the issues this week.

Airfields - if you open the global layer files in ETO or BoB and search for airfields with 'EFTS' (Elementary Flying Training School) in the description columns. Flashgordon did all this work btw.

Here a little something for all to try as I build these missions..

ETO 1.40 1936 ERA1
Random spawns disabled

I flew this at 90-100mph, and as needed the altitude height between 1000ft down to 300 ft at times..

You will have to fly like a Crazy hobbit, between trees under rocks, in and out of hobbit holes..
And you will survive..Maybe..
Let me know if this type of missions this meets the needs..

Great Work

The more I see the screenies, the more I realise what a nicely detailed model this Tiger Moth is. Thanks, Clive!

@HH, I really enjoy tree-top dodging, the mission should be great fun! - (aided by the improved meshbuilderbudgets file which gives more valleys to hide in..:icon_lol: )

Owen I can't wait to try your mission but I don't have this: w40_f_inf_run. What is that.......a vehicle? Does anyone have that?
