Is the setup correct, Pete?

Tutor - gestation and birth

Thank you Nigel for bringing this charismatic and classic trainer to FS9.

Your 'team' have also contributed to the honing of this magnificent model by literally putting in the hours and giving such a positive seal of approval even prior to release.

With a slip of the keyboard you have also alerted the every watchful KGB of the existence of a Spitfire in waiting. So even following the release of the TUTOR I will still be in suspenders!

Thanks to all of you for your efforts. Just itching to try a 3 pointer in a 5 kt cross-wind.

Mags on, contact!

Aye.

Cheers Chris

Thanks Chris. :)

Thanks for the enthusiatic support, Vonernsk - check your PMs. :)

Thanks Keith - 'our' inclinometer is now more or less serviceable. :wiggle:

Revised AVRO RPM gauge bitmap in place (Thank heavens for PSD layered 'motherfile').

Time for a quick infusion of fresh coffee bean juice, then onto pointer calibration.

That canted RPM meter is a really nice touch, it adds lots of character!

Would it be possible to have the prop rotation stop with the after-run of the engines upon shut-down? As it is, when the prop stops, the pistons can still be heard moving afterward.

Ok, back under my rock.:running:

LOL. No rocks around here, Downwind. :)

Not much can be done with the animation unfortunately, but I'll see if we can at least sync the sounds a little closer to what we're seeing.

Thanks Sascha - have to agree it was a worthwhile upgrade. :encouragement:

Test Team should all now have received the updated panel.

I have named the NEW panel: panel.Tutor
That way, users can assign it to as many liveries as they wish if they also wan't to retain the older panel as an alternative.

This would be a typical cfg. file entry:

[fltsim.0]
title=AVRO 621 CFS Aerobatic Team
sim=Tutor
model=cowl
panel=Tutor
sound=
texture=CFS Aerobatic Team
kb_checklists=tutor_check
kb_reference=tutor_ref
atc_id=N106CM
ui_manufacturer=AVRO
ui_type="621 Tutor"
ui_variation="CFS Aerobatic Team"
description="The Avro Model 621, designed by Roy Chadwick, was a two-seat British radial-engined biplane from the interwar period. It was a simple and rugged primary trainer that was used by the Royal Air Force as well as many other air arms worldwide."
atc_id_font=Verdana,-11,1,600,0
atc_id_color=0x00000000
atc_heavy=0
visual_damage=0

I do believe that one can get the prop to be timed with the sound, I think it needs prop MoI in the cfg file & one of the engine parameters in the air file to be amended - Mr Magoo? Or will those same values mess up the start sync?
Keith

Would be awesome if we could, Keith. :)

Mr Magoo has been pretty stretched with RW work commitments lately, but I'm sure he'll take a look when he has the opportunity.

Just an FYI, flies good in FSX and P3Dv3 but no joy in P3Dv4, can't have everything can we.
New panel is very nice.

Good on you, Wombat666! :wavey:

Pleased you like the NEW panel - I'm sure we'll nudge the fleet upwards to P3Dv4 level when we eventually go native FSX.

Can someone following this thread shed some light for me....

first.. wow.. is this airplane EVER coming along nicely!! Played with the new panel this morning.. looks good!

BUT.. on to my question.

I'm working on a Portuguese Navy floatplane texture set for when Nigel gets the correct model finished.. no rush.. we're good.. LOL

Anyway, a couple of little things I'm having trouble finding reference photos of.

First.. on other silver doped aircraft of the time, it appears in some photos that there is a very thin black line around the national insignias on the wings. The artists colour plate I used doesn't show this.. so, does anyone familiar with Portuguese Avro's of the time know if I should add this thin black outline?

Second... again.. photos do not show this clearly enough.. but.. is the forward portion of the vertical tail the same colour as the fuselage.. as in silver dope.. or is it painted in a darker grey? Some colour plates sow it silver.. some grey.. and from photos.. I can't determine if I'm looking at a different colour or a shadow.. as they are all black and white!

THIRD.. The only reference I can find of pilots uniforms of the time show a similar colour to the RAF, but with the rank stripes in gold. As such, I have done VERY little modification to the pilots texture file.. If they wore a different jacket in flight (as in leather)... would be good to know!! :)

and FOURTH.. again.. colour plates are an artists impression.. and from the few B&W photos I've found, it's difficult to determine if the forward metal bits of the fuselage are bare aluminium, or painted silver..

That's all for now.. :)
