FS9 Xtreme Evolution: beta testers wanted!

Copied the requested files over with no .agn and no crash....

Hey, great, thank you! I just want to be certain: Did you copy all the files to go in the /root/texture AND the files 0124b2su1 to vshoresu into your scenery\World\texture directory? That would eliminate a lot of them!

Next I would ask you to copy the files 029b2su1 to 49h2su5 (all city and town textures) again WITHOUT .agn into your scenery\World\texture directory. If that does not cause a CTD drop the corresponding agn files in too.

We should be able to narrow the offending file down to a couple of sets - don't worry, I won't ask you to go through dozens of textures individually:salute:

Best,
Sascha

Copied everything from folder 5 over and no crash....

Thank you again, more good news!

My dropbox folder seems to arrange things in a different order so I have to ask you: is your number 5 the dropbox folder labelled "into_FS9_texture_folder"?

I am sorry to bother you with this again but so far this is the best lead we have to track down that file!

Best,
Sascha

no...it is in the FS9 Evolution_Beta_Test.zip file under into fs9 world scenery

Ok, and you copied the whole folder in without CTD, right?

And you did not copy anything into the fs9/texture folder, also right?

Then the file must be one of those that go into the fs/texture folder, probably a certain runway or taxiway ...

Can you put in the files for the fs9/texture to confirm CTD please?

files from fs9/texture had already been copied over with no crash.

Ok I got it at last!:running:

In the next step please copy the .agn files from 029b2an1.agn to 049h2an7.agn (city autogen) in the fs9/scenery/world/texture folder.

If that causes no CTD please copy texture files 011b2su1 to 028b2su7 into your fs9/scenery/world/texture folder. These are all the forests.

Let's see what happens.

Herzlichen Dank!
Sascha

It is something within the first texture set. (folder 1) As soon as I copied those textures (no .agns) over, it crashes.

Ha! Excellent! That means we have more or less nailed it - good work! :salute::salute::salute:

Now can you copy me the name of the folder containing the offending texture? I'm afraid I can't identify it from the number:bump:

Thank you mate!

into_FS9_scenery_world_texture_part1.zip

Ok, this should be the last steps - please dump in the file 000b2su1.bmp and if that does not cause the CTD the set 001b2su1 to su7 although these should not be used. if no CTD then please all water files (xxxb2wa1.bmp).
000b2wa1.bmp looks strange, I also do not know if that file belongs at all.
000b2su1 is also a water file but maybe it should be in a different format, similar to ordinary textures.
All other files should be fine, I can't see any format problem there.
Thank you!
Sascha

Yup! 000b2su1.bmp was copied over and BOOM! crash at 54% loading...

Well Nater, you nailed it -thank you:salute::salute::salute:!

Now let's see if this fixes it.

Same file attached for download with rightclick, reformatted. If that doesn't work, I'll try downsizing it.

Gruß,
Sascha

Cant save it Sascha. I have imagetool. What format does it need to be in? Right now Imagetool says 16 bit

From Austria, across the Alps to Southern France.

It's all looking good.

Hey, I see you have managed to get rid of the blurries :icon_lol:

it's a pity there is no good landclass for the High Alps - I flew over there on my way from Germany to Italy last year, passing over Austria and seeing Switzerland in the distance, and there are much more rocks and snow in summer, also more arid patches these days due to erosion ...

Regards,
Sascha

Everyone should download the changed file (from post #196, I have attached it here too). I don't know if it will fix all CTD issues, but it would be interesting to see if the Bella Coola problem was due to the same file ... Nayway changing this file also fixed a crash issue I was getting on exit, so it seems to interact with FS2004 in strange ways and worth fixing even if you don't think you have problems like me.

Due to Nater's input I found another set which needs to be reformatted, I attach these also.

A nice weekend to all of you!
Sascha
