FS9 Xtreme Evolution: beta testers wanted!

SSI01 is still in the running, Sascha. I have had no crashes, no tree issues, everything is running fine. Tempted to install this package as is into the other sims (it's that much of an improvement) but as it's a Beta I'm holding off. Really looking forward to the next step!:jump:

Also looking forward to 2.0. Few little things here and there have popped up, but were fairly easily fixed. The trees I never did fix even with all of the agn files deleted. They still show in the fields in some places but that doesn't really bother me.

But overall loving the new textures. Give fs9 a whole fresh look about it.

Sascha-Just to update....After replacing the world/scenery/textures with the original ones, no crashes at ETEJ, replaced them again with the ones from you, and with a saved flight at the exact spot of crashing, FS loads to 51% and crashes to desktop....

Is it default ETEJ airport, nater? And also default terrain.cfg and default autogen file in the autogen folder? No landclass for the area?
l

Yes, when I replaced the textures, I used the stock default.xml and terrain config. I turned off UT Europe, and I do not have any other landclass for Germany.

Strange. Only thing i can think of is that UT left something behind somewhere causing a conflict. I don't use UT so can't say for sure. Perhaps somebody else that uses it can help.

Guys, I'm back from Paris. Sorry for not replying to the last posts. I'll try to catch up.

Finished another set of annotations today:jump:

Cheers,
Sascha

First EVO Beta 2.0 screenshots

Some screenshots I have been taking while tweaking, in no particular order. These are the desaturated textures with extra details.
View attachment 92930USA with autogen set to extreme
View attachment 92934Austria. I removed some of the parks in cities.
View attachment 92935Germany. I added some extra fields, orchards and plant centres (nurseries? Where you can buy plants) around some villages.
View attachment 92936Germany. Better blending of textures, I removed some tree patches for a smoother overall look.
View attachment 92937In the background is Heringsdorf airport addon (photoreal). Desaturated the textures, fixed some more tiling issues.
View attachment 92938Below is Debrecen airport addon (photoreal). Switched some texture sets to better match real-world.
View attachment 92939Ecuador. Optimized autogen in all exotic sets.
View attachment 92932Britain. I added additional autogen.
View attachment 92931My hometown (Berlin). More autogen for cities, fewer green patches.
View attachment 92933Brazil

Planes are Warbirdsim P-51B, Manfred Jahn's C-47, Rick Piper's Jet Provost and Dave Copley's P-38L. The latter I have re-installed just now and it's an absolute blast!

I forgot what plane can be seen at Debrecen:pop4:

More Beta 2 ...

... some more screenshots which didn't fit in the first post.
View attachment 92957Isle of Man. Different field sets mix better now.
View attachment 92958SE Asia (Jungle). Changed some colours so that different forest types blend smoothly.
View attachment 92959SE Asia Coast & Fields. Changed rice paddies and other details. Removed some detail because I felt that there was too much clutter.
View attachment 92953Britain (near Cardiff, I think). Less tiling of fields.
View attachment 92954Germany with autogen level set to dense. Optimized some autogen around fields, changed some colouring of fields and added additional detail.
View attachment 92955American fields. I switched some field textures so that geometric fields appear where they should.
View attachment 92956Looking out the other side from Dave's magnificent P-38 which I now use as my sightseeing ride!

Regards,
Sascha

That's looking pretty good! I really like what you've done with those American fields. They're looking pretty true-to-life in those shots.

Sorry for failure to really be much good - I've gotten pretty busy with my classes and research. Right now, I'm at the SCEC (Southern California Earthquake Center) conference listening to scientific presentations and reading scientific posters and networking - this after giving much of the previous two months to a yet unfinished project on fault creep in Dry Lake Valley, CA... I'm looking forward to a break soonish when I can give my time over to school work, procrastinating, and flying (usually in that order).

Hey, real life caught up with me too in the last weeks, but FS is not everything - we need to earn money to buy chips and beer to sustain us while we are simming:wiggle:

Anyway I have almost three weks of vacation coming up. I'll be about visiting family but will have laptop so I'll be able to make major inroads into next seasons.

I will publish Beta 2 before even if not all autogen annotation is incomplete, I will just release an update for the update :running:

Take care everyone!
Sascha

I forgot to add - all screenshots are UNEDITED AS USUAL except for sharpening to counter the fuzziness caused by the screenshot-taking.

I am using a different enbseries, so far I am pleased with the colour vibrancy-

Which other sims can you install it to? Or do you mean other instances of FS9?

Cheers,
Sascha

Yes, when I replaced the textures, I used the stock default.xml and terrain config. I turned off UT Europe, and I do not have any other landclass for Germany.

Would you mind returning to your default textures and then dropping only the new textures for the FS9/texture into the sim, then see if it crashes already? If it is one of those textures it will be much easier to track down.

If it isn't one of the FS9/texture files, could you then drop in only the files f0124b2su1 to vshoresu in your scenery\World\texture directory but NO .agn files, please?

That should give me a good starting point!

Thanks and regards!
Sascha
