Milton's Howard 500 a fresh look!

Wings revision #2... enhanced (3D) metal strips and round rivets in areas I seen in photos.

The gray strip is part of the flaps which I hasn't been done if anyone is wondering.

Just wondering what the latest is on this? It's induced me to apply my meager skills yet again on a Howard.

I've been on holiday, plus been recruited to create some footage for a Historical Documentary a film crew needed for a special DC-3/C-47.

Anyways, I started the last few days working on the wings. Remove the black walkways and added rivets in that area. Best possible guess since the aircraft pics I'm using have a lot of paint covering most of the rivets.

Hope you guys don't mind the delay, I want this to look its best and still trying to get a handle using photoshop. :isadizzy:

These pics are FSX, since I don't have FS9. I will have 1024 textures for the FS9 fliers also! ;)

I will be working on those little strips pieces and the flaps next. Also, I think that panel is a little to deep and wide. May fix that.

This I can deal with...

These are cool paint jobs... really like the blue one!

That's one of the late Damian "Windrunner" Radice's paints that he did as a custom job for a friend. It just happened to be on an AI Howard in the background. I'm the guilty party on the black/red one which is a work in progress.

Cool... if you don't mind, would like to see a few more pics of the B/R beauty! In the mean time, there's not much I can do with the h-stab, just give it some metal works, but will finish up the tails soon.

1024x (FS9) project so far with older wings... will revise with the current FSX wings. Window frames also will be revised plus updates to the rudders.

May not be as sharp as the FSX version, but this baby look might sharp all the same! -TuFun

Very nice detailing, TuFun... I can't wait to see your final rendition on the old girl. Some things stand the test of time, Milton's Howard 500 is one of those, and with efforts like yours TuFun, they just keep getting better. Outstanding work, mate! :medals:

Super detailing, TuFun!

My, she's looking GRAND! :jump:

Are you thinking of doing a weathered version too?

Thanks Nigel! That's another area I need to learn to do... weathering, and such stuff as residue from the exhaust on the nacelles. All in good time I guess. -Ted

Rivets, screws, and straightening some lines are in place before fading, but I forget one on top. Just have to dupe the right rudder.

TuFun,

The htail mapping is a consequence of mapping to a photoreal texture, same for each side, twisted and stretched to fit using my meager skills back in '04.

I would be happy to remap that for you and give you your own model for this.

Let me know.

My inbox had a little surprise waiting for me this morning. YES!!! New tail feathers... soon as I opened the files (big smile), I jumped in and got some pattern lines laid down. A few adjustments here and there, then the rivets! I got the new rudders too... thanks a bunch Milton!!!

Just look at that... thanks again Milton!

Man this thing is turning into a real looker....with a special model to boot. I hope that when you are all done with the lines and rivets you will make that base available. Even better as a paint kit where one can throw a little paint here and there but still have those awesome lines superimposed and a nice bit of shiny aluminium skin left over.

Cheers
Stefan

After some work on the tail feathers... went on my first flight of 2013!

With the new rudders, revised metal work... only need to fix the bracket under the h-stab. Needs a little more curve up.
