The traditional post here if you are up and running P3

Up and running, no problems at all with installation (even kept my Phase 2 configuration a key select changes). First impressions, FPS no worse than Phase 2 and maybe even a tad better (but I am in early years campaign, so maybe less stuff around to slow it down). Thank you OFF team!

Just got up and running after returning from my business trip to find OFF P3 waiting for me.

Am having trouble with the CFS3 configuration inside P3. Does not seem to want to work. I adjusted the values I wanted within CFS3 and it seems to be working.

Did have an autorun error exiting from one flight. Was damaged in a Pfalz DIIIa but managed to make a good landing at a friendly airfield. The program said I had wrecked the plane...not true...and then I got the autorun error. Not good.

I ordered mine tuesday the 27th and received it yesterday, saturday the 31st

Location = Texas

Probably wrong thread for issues CaptainScott things get lost down here..
"Am having trouble with the CFS3 configuration inside P3. Does not seem to want to work. I adjusted the values I wanted within CFS3 and it seems to be working." That's very odd CFS3 is not used, maybe something is mixed up there. Still if it's working fine then don't knock it I guess but that's odd.

If you get issues, full uninstall of OFF BH&H vai ADD/REMOVE programs, uninstall CFS3, clean out registry see (FAQ) to make sure no old settings there. Install CFS3, patch it to 3.1 install OFF (and patch it). (See FAQ for P2 to P3 upgrade if thatis what you did).

"Was damaged in a Pfalz DIIIa but managed to make a good landing at a friendly airfield"

Yep if you land or not is not the issue, the mech finds your machine is full of holes and the engine is blown it's a right off ;)

No idea what autorun error is need more details when it happens (maybe email support instead).

I did uninstall and reinstall OFF P3 (though not trackir or CFS3), and this seems to have addressed the CFS3 configuration issue.

Not sure why I had the autorun issue after the one campaign mission; maybe this has been solved, too.

So far, I think P3 is pretty good, though I will definitely be playing around more with it in the coming days and weeks. It takes a lot of concentration and its not something you fly more than one mission of (or so) without a bit of a break. I chalk that up to realism, which is a good thing.

Good to hear Shred :)

OK great CaptainScott true sometimes it needs an hour of concentration to get through a tough or exciting mission. QC is good for a quick blast though if time is short.

I've been playing around with the settings today and it's running really smoothly now.
  • From the Workshops BHH Config program I set the res to 1680x1050 32bit color with the max 8x antialiasing.
  • In Nevida I set Anisotropic filtering to 2x
Antialiasing to "over ride" and 8xQ setting
    Texture filtering anisotropic - ON
    Texture filtering - "quality"
Texture filtering LOD Bias - "allow"
    Tripple buffering "On"
    Vertical Sync "force on"
The last two settings I'm still experimenting with.. I also set the config program parameter editor "Texture Info" page "Full Screen Swap Effect" radio button to the VSYNC choice.
  • In the Workshops BHH config program I set all settings as in the FAQ
and for the Image quality page I used: Aircraft-5, Terrain & Scenery-3, Effects & Clouds-4
I'm getting fps averaging around 40 and as high as 60 with very little stuttering.
BHH is really fantastic.. can't believe the improvements in all areas!

Another thing I did that I now know makes a huge difference was turning off a lot of the background running tasks. I use a program called "The Ultimate Trouble Shooter" (click here) which makes it easy and explains each task.

My system is mid/high and I haven't tried over clocking yet. Parky helped me pick it out about a year and a half ago. The MSI MOB went bad and I recently replaced it with the Gigabyte.

Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R ATX LG775 MOB
Intel core 2 duo E6600 2.4ghz
Patriot Extreme 2gb DDR2 800 SDRAM
Antec Trio TP3-650w ATX12v PS
EVGA PCIEx GeForce 8800gts 320mb
SB Audigy 2ZS
Windows XP Pro SP3
2x WD Sata HD 3gb 16mb cache
SATA DVD/CD R/RW

The more I fly, the deeper I get into this sim, the more I like it. Being a work in progress I look forward to the patches and future downloads. For now I am flying by the seat of my pants and getting my thrills along the way. My heartfelt thanks to the OBD team. This game is helping me to cope with a lot of negative things that are going on. I know most us share these negative things and I am glad we have OFF BHAH.:Banane36:

Up and running very well now, especially since I finally got the Trackir 4 system re-installed and fine tuned.

Only problem now is, I keep crashing into the fields and trees...

Ha-ha. The cause?:faint:

I should leave the Trackir alone for now until I get a better feel for OFF. Seems in my over-excited stage (2 new toys at once), I am enjoying the new views offered by Trackir that I am not fully paying attention to my actual flying. Next thing I know, I am staring at the ground doing too fast to pull up in time.

One thing at a time for this old man. First, OFF, and then Trackir.

But, I am enjoying OFF immensely! :ernae:

Hi Rabu

This is probably the wrong thread to post in, but could you keep experimenting with your settings and post the results?
I think that many of us rely on people like you who know what they're doing when it comes to some of the more esoteric graphic settings

Many Thanks

PS :focus: I'm also up and running :jump:

Up and running since Jan 31st. Installed seamlessly over Phase 2. Zowee! Everything hunky-dory so far (after first few flights in my trusty DH2) :)
Just a big shame my ancient rig cannot do this work of art full justice. Currently I have all sliders on minimum to give me frame rates in the teens to low 20s. 'One day! <sigh>...', he mutters.

May have to quizz Parky and the other boffins concerning the black-arts of 'overclocking'...

Great job OFF Team. Salute!

Regards to all

Up and ruining(!!) BUT couldnt find anywhere to set joystick controls.. the quick combat had no tweak menus or any menu.. where did the useful bits of P2 go?
..couldnt turn any labels on /off and then on the third flight I had to turn off the computer in order to get out of it.. not good
maybe reinstall but ...
maybe patch 1.1 will sort it but why... :help:

Installed mine over Phase 2 with nary a problem. Simple! I would agree with other posts that it runs as well or slightly better (FPS-wise) than P2. I've taken several flights and can't believe the gorgeous scenery, even with my aging system where I'm not able to max out the sliders. Excellent work OBD Team! Thank you all. :ernae:

Had no trouble with using existing (and very old) TrackIr drivers on my XP system.

I look forward to getting deeper into it and seeing all the changes and improvements!

Up and Running

I am up and running however in 8 plane dogfights I run at a clunky 26-32 FPS. My rig is:
AMD Phenom X4
9750 QUAD CORE VISTA 64
750 GB
NVIDEA GeForce 9800GT video card
8GB system mem

I tried Redwolf's tweaks despite not having an ATI card and my FPS went up to 30-36 FPS. Is this to be expected? My sliders are at 1,3,1,1,1 .

Delivered yesterday,up and running today........been almost a year since i last flew P2,great to be back in the wickerbasket once again, and back here.
Fantastic job Devs!! (like P3 would be anything less!)

to my great satisfaction

i can now post here!!!
phase-3 has setteled down to a variety of tweeks and is now behaveing with relatively few stutters.
the duel core cfs-3 exe was what fixed it for me.
anyone wishing for this WITH A DUEL CORE SYSTEM ONLY please email me and i will shoot it over.
if there are a lot of you out there i will ask permission to upload the file here.
PD

Will it work for a quad-core?

Belay that, I googled it and it's a fix for AMD procs so that only one core is used.

Damn, it really peeves me that I usually have three cores sitting idle with most games.

has made all the difference on mine.

nvidia graphics.
same exe made no difference to a friends so each must try it and see.

Up and running for a few days now

So far sim looks great, haven't flown anything but QC so far. I've ordered a TrackIR Pro but haven't gotten it yet, when I do, after checking it out I'll start a campaign. I was concerned that my 3 MHz Pentium 4 would not be computer enough to run the sim, but so far things look pretty good, at least in QC. GeForce 8500 GT so far has kept up with the graphics load.
